Trouble patching Service Pack three for Trainz2010 Engineers Edition

Hello: I need some help. According to my trainz2010 I have build 43361 of the program. Although next to my product key it says (43208). I downloaded the service pack three file for 41615-43434 with 239 MB and when I open the patch file the patch box says this:

Unable to determine Trainz installation path. Requesting user to specify installation location.

I proceed to C:/Program files (x86)/Auran/TS2010/Trainz

This patch file is not applicable to your current installation version.
No valid patch operation was specified. Patching aborted.

What file do I need to download and what path to use?
Thanks, Bob

ok, what build do you have for trainz 2010, and the way to patch the game is to locate the TS2010 folder, not the Trainz folder. That's how I learned, and it worked.

See my original post to answer your questions. I did locate in the TS2010 folder and the build is above in my question.

You have build 43361, and when you said you were patching it, you mentioned a lower build, patch 41615-43434 to be exact. You need the correct build in order to patch it correctly, otherwise it will not patch.

Simple - you're using the wrong patch!

Unfortunately, the patch you require does not seem to be available. Can you check the build by looking at the bottom-right of the Launcher? You need a patch thats first number is the same as the one on the Launcher.

Kieran.

Correct Kman! When you first install Trainz, it's build is the first build, with no patch's what so ever. This is a tradition for trainz user's. Like Kman said, you are using the wrong patch! :hehe:

Patch

The Launcher says build 43361. So what patch do I use?

Ah, you bought Trainz via Steam. There are no patches for the Steam version, sorry. The ones from the Servicepacks page are only for non-Steam versions. If a patch is released for TS2010 on Steam, Steam will download it for you. Unfortunately, the Steam version of TS2010 being updated is hightly unlikely.

Your correct again Kman! Steam is not good when it comes to games like trainz, as they auto update, and that sometimes can lead to a lot of issues, though with Trainz 2012 steam edition, it's better then the Railroad Simulator edition, and Trainz 2012 disk edition (both railroad simulator and Trainz 2012 are on disks.) So my advise, buy the disc edition of Trainz 2010, and you'll see why it's used more!

Of course I'm correct; I'm CaptainKman!

Buying TS2010 through Steam was probably not the best option, but if you (the original poster) like TS2010 you may wish to purchase TS12, if your computer can handle it. If you decide to buy TS12 through Steam, then you should be pleased to know that it has plenty of updates and new ones are still being worked on to get it to the same stage as the non-Steam version.

Actually, it's not just the Steam version that is build 43361. Basically, any digital download version of TS2010 not from N3V or possibly Just Trains is build 43361, which is unpatchable, as there are no patches whatsoever for it, and probably never will be.

It is a download version of Trainz 2010 Engineers edition full game bought on Amazon.com. The patches on the download site are for that game, Engineers edition but they show a range of builds do they not? The build is 43361 and has not been modified that I know of. I was trying to install Service Pack 3 for it at least if it even needs an upgrade. Also, I downloaded a custom route from this website with the owners consent as it is free. http://www.steammachine.com/slugsmasher/ss2_routes_main.htm and followed his directions. The sampler route is supposed to work on Trainz 2010 but it does not show up in the game even though everything is there in the Content Manager and all issues are fixed with the files. Do I need to delete some Cache files or something? How can I find the session or route?Bob
