trouble installing patch

I have been having massive trouble updating trainz. i can download a patch but then while I'm in the process of setting it up to install, a box comes up telling me to enter a file name. I type the name in and it doesn't recognise it, and therefore won't let me install it. I have tried and tried various things. I have tried run as administrator, database repair, my anti virus is off while doing it, i have the latest direct x, and each time it is tripping me up. I would make do with not updating it, but I have downloaded a lot of stuff from content manager, and none of it is appearing in surveyor, and i suspected this could be the reason. Is there something i don't know or am not thinking of? Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated

you have to point where the trainz lancher.exe is

trains in railyard but not surveyor

sorry i'm not sure what you mean by point to trainz launcher.exe. Also I just found that the trains I downloaded are in railyard but they still aren't appearing in surveyor.
