I prefer the TRC over the ATLS because of one thing: switching. When you activate an ATLS crossing, you have to cross all the triggers associated with it, regardless how long your train is and if you activate any more crossings while trying to de-activate the first crossing, which I found very irritating when switching. With TRC, you don't have to worry about that. If you activate the crossing and stop before the crossing, the gates go back up, and then come back down when you start heading towards them.
