Why does cdp check every time you open it? why is it so easy to make routes yet to download stuff they made it so hard but not impossible. Why do you have to log on to every page to do anything? you have a beautiful sim and I know it took a long time to build it. I think with a little more thought this could be a master piece. but my kids hate it. I might try 2010. is it much different? p.s. I have 2006.

i just got 2010 and i have had nothing but problems with it freezing this and that not working could not save game as it made game freeze i have been on this now for 3 hours unistalling game to see if i can sort it ,,if no joy i will be deleting it off hard drive as this is utter crap .......shame as it looks good but its riddled with bugs AHH now just installed and at last min error game crashed have to install again

I don't know if TS2009 is more stable than TS2010 but I am very happy with TS2009. It is certainly better than TRS2006.

Firstly, you are using an unsupported version, but still, you don't use the webpage to download anything in TRS2006. Believe it or not, you use Content Manager Plus, you access this by clicking on "Content" at the menu. You may need to input your username and password. However, with TRS2006, you do require a first class ticket to access it now, due to its support status. Thats depending if Auran have cut off access now.
I'd recommend TRS2010 if you are happy with downloading for free at limited speeds.

Firstly, can you post your system specs please? E.g. CPU, RAM, Graphics card or chip and Operating system? I've got TRS2010 sucessfully running on a number of old computers (laptops funny enough! Well over 4 years old and one of them is a tablet PC. If you want to know, Pentimun M 1.6Ghz DORTHAM CPU, 2GB RAM, GeForce FX5200 32mb video card, 160GB Pata HD, Windows 7 and a wacom tablet screen, its an experience in its own right...! If you want to know, its a Toshiba Portege M200.)

However, with TRS2010, I would rebuild the Trainz Asset Database if something is crashing, just go to content, then in CMP, click file then "Extended Database Repair". Which reminds me, something I need to do on the M200. Also, all software has bugs, some require some logcal thinking to overcome them, others are due to poor coding. I've made software and yes, I had a number of bugs, due to my own fault!

Well msts is 8 to 9 years old and never was really supported but it works. The only draw back was routes were hard to build unless you knew about how to use the editor. Not for just the average railfan. I learned alot about computers in general messing with it. I was hoping trainz would be better than msts. but maybe I will try it later. I don't know if they keep making a different one every year maybe I will try trainz 2112. :o

Kev,

TS2010 is not as bad as these guys are saying it is. You need a decent computer to run it, just to be warned, but it works very much like TRS2006. Only more reliable, with fewer crashes. With TS2006, I had constant crashes when exiting the program, random crashes in the program, and other issues. To be honest I used it, but I wasn't thrilled with it. TS2009 was better, but had its issues. It was more or less a Beta program, and was sold as such. TS2010 is the final product that TS2009 was to become.

The graphics are much better, although there are some performance issues if you use a lot of SpeedTreez, unless you have a decent video card, and there are some draw-distance issues with some older content. There are ways around this if you fiddle with the routes.

Remember, TRS2006 is older and is seeing less and less support. In fact it never really was well liked by the community. TS2010 is the future of Trainz, and this is where the product is heading.

I agree MSTS was a bear to develop for. I could never build a route with it. TRS200x and TS200x are so much easier to use.

John
