Hey guys just bought Trainz Ultimate collection today. Sadly its not working correctly. Everytime it gets to the main menu it says that "The product key is incorrect or the installation was damaged" something to that nature. Well i got on here and added my Serial number in my profile. Tried reinstalling the game, and downloading the service pack. Nothings worked. Im working off of Vista. I tried running it as windows 2000,xp and 98 and that didnt work either. Also i noticed that if i go to the content manager and check the error report theres a ton of errors of things that werent loaded. any help i can get would be great. And im not sure if this is the appropriate area to place it. First time ive posted on this particular forums. If it is or this has been discussed 2 billion times i apologize

UTC Fail

Hi - Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your new software. The best that I can do is suggest to you as the problem can be a number of things.
1. Your CD/DVD is not reading the disc correctly. It is damaged or had a dirty lens. It could just be too old and on its way out.
2. The disk is damaged or incomplete... Is it an Auran copy or is from another supplier such as Focus.
3. Is it a new copy? If you bought it from a friend or eBay and it has been registered already then you are out of luck.
4. It could be Vista that is causing the problem. This has caused a number of problems with Trainz, especially on notebooks/laptops.
5. Apart from the CD/DVD drive being faulty then there could also be a problem with the hard drive.
6. Did you try to install through a firewall or with your anti-virus still turned on. You should turn these off when installing trainz.

These are pointers for you to consider and I am sure others will be here soon enough to try and help. What would assist us a great deal would be for you to post your PC specs. It would also help to know the rough age of the PC and if you have updated all your drivers.

Hope something here helps but come back if you still have troubles.
Regards Doug

If I remember right UTC can not be installed from the CD, you must copy it to your hard drive first and then install.

No you only need to do that with the paintshed disc.
However make sure any virus software is disabled or not running during the install
You may also need to read the FAQ for UTC link below
