Trainz tunnel workaround

Having just spent two and a half hours fiddling and fussing with digholes, adjusting terrain, trying to get some semblence of a prototypical track configuration, raising and lowering tunnel bores, and fruitlessly trying every potential fix I could think of for a mysterious derailment problem, I have hit on a workaround. Others who are similarly frustrated with Auran's preposterously unprototypical and difficult tunnels might be interested.

I selected a tunnel that permits free placement, BNSF's Tehachapi, but did not connect the track. Instead, I laid the tunnel 0.20m lower than my track. Instead of a dighole, I just textured the visible terrain wall inside the tunnel bore with the black HOG texture. Looks fine from the outside. No muss, no fuss, no bother, no weird terrain configurations, no implausible curves, no derailments when connected with regular track.

If you are not into riding the cab this could save you many hours of your life. If someone else has already done this and commented about it on the forums, I apologize, but I needed to post this anyway just to vent.

Takes a bit of perserverance but setting up tunnels with a portal such as you have used is not a hard thing to do and still include the dig hole. There will always be a missing piece of ground but this is easily covered with something like an AJS grass spline.

My tip is to always try and have the portal entrance parallel to the edge of the terrain square and it will give you the best result.
