Trainz Soup.gs Problems

I've been having issues with my Jointed Rail and RR Mods goodies. Now after working with @Adamovic it seems that my soup.gs has been compromised. This compelled me to delete the cache, asset.tdx and asset-cache.tdx from Trainz. While some things have gotten better initially other issues persist. I'm not sure what caused the soup.gs to fail or become compromised (corrupted) but something's up and I hope @N3VSupport can offer a little bit of insight into the innerworkings of this file.

Nothing worse than finding bugs in the soup. 🤠
Hey waiter, there's a fly in my soup.

I was once told by a senior N3V software engineer that changing any of the standard library files, including soup.gs, would likely break Trainz. So, I agree with NFS37, you probably need to reinstall.
If you really need to look at those library files then take a copy and place them somewhere else.

seems pretty unlikely.

so reinstall and try again?
I did reinstall the game a while ago and those problems still persists. As a matter of fact, I deleted the cache and asset.tdx files before doing a complete database rebuild but that didn't work. Frankly, I'm just over TRS22. These people broke the game. Part of me wants to ditch it and head on back to T:ANE but won't since no one makes content for that game anymore and reverse compatibility by modifying the build number will have no effect.

What you are proposing is just not possible. Idk how you came to these conclusions, but surely you do not think that all of us are just overlooking something that is obvious to you. Your soup.gs and everyone else's is fine until you present evidence to prove otherwise. Why make posts like this saying you will go back to T:ANE - just why would anyone consider this for a moment?

Bring back the waffle flatcar.

Maybe you should try a clean reinstall of the operating system to make sure everything is cleared out. Install your software and confirm it is working. Then, after that is done...

I said the issues in TRS22 make me want to go back out of frustration. That's not for everyone else, only me. As for why other people would consider going back to T:ANE, actually people have done so already. Many people on here have complained that the issues in TRS22 are overly burdensome and have gone back to TRS19 or even T:ANE for that matter. So, yes many people have considered and done so. The question is, why wouldn'tthey consider such changes if the current version of Trainz has brought them nothing but headaches not experienced in previous versions?

waffle waffle

you are missing the point. I could not care less about why you or others want to go back to software from 15 years ago. That is why I am saying - who would just come along posting drivel, imaginary problems, and then say they are leaving for another version - nothing is accomplished in this thread.

No you're the one who's missing the point. You claim to not care about why me or others want to back to previous Trainz versions yet here you are commenting. People who truly don't care just ignore the things they don't care about and pretend they don't exist. Right now, you're the only engaging in drivel. The only reason why I brought up this topic is because @Adamovic and me were troubleshooting script errors with his products and he was mistaken in believing my soup class file might be compromised. We both now know it's something else which is why I'm not displaying any interest or attempts to bring this up with N3V. I decided to say the heck with it and just deal with the script errors as they come along. Not to mention I never claimed to leave for T:ANE. I said part of me wants to go back. That's different than saying outright I'm going back to T:ANE so nothing was accomplished with your statements and quite frankly I don't mind if @N3VSupport closed this thread before it goes somewhere it shouldn't. I'm done here.

In fact, I didn’t even know what a soup file was until he brought it up.

Create and empty folder somewhere.
At the Launcher, go into settings.
Click on Install tab.
Click on the dots.
Select your new empty folder.

TRS22 will want to restart.

When you restart, it'll ask for your graphics settings and require you to put in your username and password just like you would for a fresh install.

Now here's the big question...

Does it work?

If it does without the soup and other errors, then something in your data is hosed.

If not, reinstall the program and use this test folder to test again.

I tried it earlier today by reinstalling the program and using the dummy folder for my test but the script errors still showed up including those pesky soup class issues. Perhaps it's the content or something else I'm not privy to. Maybe I can try on a different computer and see how that goes.

It could be the content. Try the base game install without any extra content installed and see how that works. Another computer test would be a good idea. That may rule out something wrong with your computer hardware or corrupted OS causing the weird problems you are having.

I'll do this over the weekend. Maybe it's the RR Mods content. He claims none of this is happening on his end. Just need to finish up some work on my end before doing this.

It's got nothing to do with the content. Having a Trainz + subscription came in handy. I installed the retail version straight from Planet Auran via my account. Different install folder and all. Installed the BNSF C44-9W WB units as test trial and wouldn't you know, those exact same script errors came about. Perhaps there is something wrong with RR Mods script.

There's your issue and... It is the content. Doh!
