Trainz Magizine?

I agree I'm in the process of fixing that now.

Ok Rick is now are assistant manager, somewhat.
He will do odd jobs or things needing help on.

Is there anyone else that wants to help? I'm kinda tight with homework right now and a 5 page research paper due Febuary 15. Rough draft is due Tuesday next week so no clue when the January Edition will be out.

If anyone can support please do!

Cheers,

If the majority of the helper bees and the head bee are still in school, I can only wish you the best of luck with either your new project or your academic grades !

I hope one or the other, possibly both excel ---DLR

I do a lot of stuff for school.

Every Monday starting the 28th I am doing Marching Band from 6-8PM.
Tuesdays Jazz Band 5:30-7PM. Wendays I'm open usually. Thrusdays Marching Band 6-8 PM. Fridays is a gig I go to every week from 6:30-9PM.

This is all plus school, normally sports but I might not do track this year, and homework. Its crazy being me.

If you cant guess I'm a midnight oil burner:hehe:

some how this slipped passed my radar. I'd be willing to help out. using Open Office I can create PDF files of such if one needs. I also am extremely efficiant in graphic design (layout, logos, little bars, etc) if you guys need. I'd also be willing to be a co-reporter on a subject or answer "mail" from people -- a thought came to me, how about a top ## questions of the month, and their solutions section?

PS did I mention I can come up with ideas for sections?

I wish you guys luck, I really do, but if you are seriously going to publish a magazine and present yourselves as journalists, don't you think you should pay attention?

I mean no offense guys, perhaps anal retentive's like myself are not your target audience!:o

Euphod- Don't spelling and grammatical errors drive you crazy? We are now the only two people I know that care about grammar online.:hehe: I am the only person I know who has had the reason for editing a post be "fixing typos". Edit-- Just a question for an unofficial survey I am taking. Do you read a lot of books?( I am trying to see if the ability to notice spelling and grammar errors is related to a love of reading. You don't have to answer if you don't want to.)

Why weren't any of you guys as keen to help me when was I editing OnTrack? Ish and myself asked time and again for help but none was forthcoming. Oh yes, we got plenty of criticism, but no actual help.

Adam, I urge you to think again. These offers of help will disappear like smoke in the wind once you get started. And if you are going to do it monthly, you can't put a mag out with just two or three pages. I can absolutely guarantee that you will be doing most of the work yourself.

Sorry to be a prophet of doom,
Best wishes,
Padster

You can add me to the list as well. As a non native English speaker it bothers me a lot to see native English speakers mess up their own language this badly. Unfortunately it isn't any different in Dutch either.

I am also an avid reader, both English and Dutch, and I am sure that reading a lot helps, not only to see errors, but also in developing your own language skills.

Thanks for stepping in there Zwabberaar, I was hesitant to lump myself in with just one other person, but with three of us we can carry on the "good fight"! Yes, most of my knowledge of the language is a result of reading for pleasure, and it is jarring to read misspelled words; almost like tripping over a rock as you are jogging. I try not to be snob about it, but when a person has mastery of the language....any language, it's beautiful to behold.

I was never bright enough to learn a language other than English, but I certainly admire and respect those that speak more than their native tongue. It always amuses me when a person is criticized for their "broken" English here when it is not their native language. I admire them for their ability to communicate in a different tongue at all! It's much more than I could do!

I know I rant about the use of spell checkers when on the forum, but my point is this: if you don't care to take the time and effort to at least check your spelling here, with one or two mouse clicks, then why would I expect any more care to be taken with your publication?

Ed

I agree completely with both of you. Correct language is important on forums like this, but especially on publications that may survive longer that the length of a thread. How you use your language is one of the few ways people can subconciously judge you. I agree also with this--

One of the most important reasons I learned to use correct spelling and grammar was when I worked as civil servant and had to deal with all kinds of legal stuff. Every single snippet of text might have ended up ( and some of it did ) before a court of law. You make an utter fool of yourself when trying to fight legal battles and stumble over spelling errors. Judges do not have a sense of humour in that regard.

I still live by that rule when writing, whether its here on a forum or letters.

It is a go!

Hello communtiy!

I had to send a message to the helpdesk on the subject of Trainz Magazine and all is a go.

If you would like to help with anything please PM me.

@PerRock
