Trainz 2010 Updating trainz asset???

Hello, just got trainz 2010 (engineers US edition)
and right now, there's 1 problem..
A note saying updating trainz asset database...
and it's stuck there for 10 minutes..
(also there's rumors saying have it run as administrator)
uhh, help?
PS this is normal?

Hi Bryan,

Depending on the size of your database (how many assets installed), this could take anywhere from an hour to a day or more. It is normal for Trainz to run a database update on first start. For a fresh install this should only take about 10 to 15 minutes. To avoid subsequent checks, always make sure TADDaemon.exe has closed before shutting down your computer. A good rule of thumb is to just give it a minute or so after closing Trainz. Don't cancel the check, for you will still need to restart it on your next launch.

Hi and Welcome Bryan, to the forum. Nicholas gave you some good advice, as CM (content manager) Is a royal pain in the A**, son of a B***h, as it will crash out on you when you least expect it.
It will simply say not responding at the top of the screen.
Sometimes you can get away with it by closing the CM down and quickly re-open trainz and go straight to the CM before the TADdaemon has a chance to close.
But that is not always the case a you will have to go through the pain of an update of the trainz asset database.
If you don't see the TADDaemon on your screen go into Options from the main screen and click the Developer tab and tick the box saying Show database process window.

When TADdaemon is running the icon is on my desktop toolbar.
When it is not running the icon is not on my desktop toolbar.
I don't understand all the huffing and puffing about it.
For me, when the CM crashes it is something I did.
Oh I don't know..When I have Trainz and the CM running at the same time and I make
some kind of change or edit.

OK, given you are as always the admin of your own computer, never known a system where you werent unless your at work, how else to you get this update to not occur? I open Trainz 2010, the menu opens, and every time I click Start it goes thru the same update. I went Ok thru the first updates ok as there were several. Im on build 49933 now and here it sits. Have had this game now for a couple weeks and after all the fighting, which I never EVER should have had to do, Im still not playing this $40 game. I keep hearing the same solution even thru other threads to wait until the daemon stops before shutting down. Done it, still updates.

You may have another issue here, and that's the fact that your TS2010 is not appearing on your timeline.
