trainz 2010 TADDaemon/ updating trainz asset manager crash

i recently purchased trainz 2010 2 days ago and when ever i try to play (by launching and pressing start) the updating asset manager opens gets halfway threw and either
a. just closes without finishing
or b. i get a message saying TADDaemon has crashed.
i have not been able to play the game at all. so any help is appreciated :)

Welcome to the forums thomasmodelseries.

If you are using Windows Vista or later, Trainz needs to be run as administrator. This may or may not solve the problem.

thanks for the welcolme :) and i tried it and it did not work, also i noticed taddaemon always crashes when it says checking for faulty assets, if that could mean anything

That does indeed mean something. Have you installed any new assets before this happened? Also, have you attempted any game patches?

Shane

i have not installed any assets (this started happening after i first downloaded the game off the simulator central website) i tried 2 diffrent patches but when i try to run them it says "This patch file is not applicable to your current installation version." and the patching gets aborted.

It may be worth patching it anyway in case there's a bug causing it - you will need the 43434 to 44088 patch (I can provide a link if needed). There are further patches after but that will be a decision to make once it's all working.

Shane

That's the one for your version, just make sure Trainz is not running at all during the patch process - click Exit/Quit on the Launcher to guarantee that (give it a few minutes to close fully though).

i just used the patch but the updating trainz asset manager still crashes in the same spot, the build is now 44088, should i try applying another patch? i found one that is 44088_to_49933 could this help?

Ah - Windows 8. I do remember reading somewhere on here regarding TADDaemon crashes with Windows 8. Unfortunately, N3V are not likely to release any further patches for TS2010, however it may be worth trying another method. I have a tutorial on my site (link is in the thread in my signature) for doing a command-line database repair. This may help identify the issue.

It my be that the game download got corrupted It may be worth re-downloading the game it's self, has the game ever worked for you?

the game has never worked, should i uninstall and then run the set up again (i bought a digital copy) or uninstall, delete the setup files and redownload them from simulator central?

the trainz install folder is in my c drive and in a folder called new folder, i keep trying to enter it in command prompt but it says "the file name, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect" what should i do.

I would uninstall TS10 and reload the one you have got first, It sounds like the comp could do with a system cleaner, I use advance system care by IObit it's good and free.
Anyway reinstall TS10 with run as administrator. if you have other disk drive, put it on one of those, just make sure there is plenty of space on it.
If the same thing still happens then redownload the game N3V but make sure you use a download manager, free download manager is a good one to get of the internet.
This should give you a crash free download, and if it dose stop for whatever reason you can pick up from right where it left off.
