Trains stop for no reason??

Trainz 2010 Build 44088

Hello. I seem to be having this occasional problem with trains/locos just stopping for no reason. I'm not getting any messages saying, the loco passed a red signal or there's a track direction marker set against the loco, no path to destination, etc.

Certain times, the loco/train will be at speed and all of a sudden it will slowly coast down to a stop. When I toggle the 'new message' icon, there's nothing there indicating a problem.

To me, it almost looks like the loco/train can't read or see the next command that needs to be executed. I checked to see if there's a
broken/not connected track. I not sure how to correct this problem.

Any help is appreaciated.

I get the same in 1 location, but it's not every consist. Not the ideal solution but I drive the consist through the set of points in front of it then continue schedule.

Check your track points and signal location. Sometimes if they're too close, this can happen because the AI gets confused. I've seen this mostly in yard areas, or really complex junctions.

Also with SPAD'ding, check that there is adequate distance between signals and station platform ends, as in platforms and signals being too close to each other in a station area. You also want to ensure that your speed is appropriate for the region. I have had to make adjustments for such issues as this in the past.

I have heard that placement of "lamp post Linda" on a route may cause the AI to slow down, and even stop...

Of course, I am joking.

Some of the passengers had that affect also in TRS2004 when the passenger-enabled stations first came out!

What is the next command and what was the previous command?
Is there a junction, signal or active industry in front of the train?

This kind of issue can also be caused by 'rogue' junctions.

Usually, a rogue junction is one where the switch is present, but no track splits or joins at that point (usually the switch also only has red arrows)

Ive experienced that problem with older engine spec files dating back to 2004 in 2010.....
one way is to upgrade em in CCP or replace em with one that is 2010 capabilities....

Well, yes. Also I've had similar issues with the reverse situation, a track switch without a junction (lever/motor). The AI has no way to know how the switch is set, so it stops.

But in that situation, the game gives you the message "Unable to plot route - junction is missing lever".
