Please N3V - can we have this in a future version?

I don't know how many times I have been in a session and set my junctions when along comes an A.I. train and RE-SETS them, causing me problems. In a future version of Trainz, can we have it so the player has priority over an A.I. train when it comes to junctions?

Than you in advance,

I'll +1 this too.

There's nothing worse than having a stuck junction because an AI train has taken control over it. The only way to prevent this from happening now is to stop the AI driver, which releases the junction.

We should be the dispatcher at all times!

i totally agree

on my caboolture to rockhampton route AI takes over even if its miles and many boards away and still needs to go through other points-switch sets

its highly frustrating

thats why i stopped working on that route for 2010

cheers

So here goes a better idea: Is obvious that when the creators of the game designed it, they decided to have this "ideal feature". But in practice it is very troublesome for all of us. So why not have a selector switch? AI or user, control of points... On this matter, look at a set of points when a train passes over them.. They change! (automatically!) This is nonsense. Some cars have the track attachment point of the boggie located so that when the points change, the car still is passing over them, making the train to derail. Well, sometimes! I think everything is related to the way AI functions over or with points. Just a thought, but yes, it has to be fixed one way or another..

Is it not your responsibility as an engineer to drive the train safely?

I think that's why they have signals. Placed properly you should be warned well in advance that you need to make a turnout change. That's called the real world. Also it 's what makes the game fun to play. On the other hand, if the route is not signaled properly, AI will not work either. Your choice.

Dave, I find that placing a Track Mark just before a junction and having the AI drive via that junction will delay the locking of the junction until the AI approches the TM. Otherwise the running AI can lock the next 3 or 4 junctions in it's path. In TS 12 this can be seen on the mini-map, which displays a padlock icon on locked jnctions.
