Track dissappearing in Surveyor

Build 114800. Making a mountainous layout. When leveling ground, clicking on that tool that levels the ground under the track, it doesn't always work. Even though the track is visible, it will not work. Other times, the track simply disappears. If you zoom out, you can still see the track, but zooming in it just isn't there.

For either condition, eliminating the track and then re-installing it cures the problem.

I have never had this problem before and I always use the same track. What gives?

What track is that? Some track renders better than others and has been the case for awhile.

I noticed though, there's a weird thing with splines including track and that makes track bury its self in the ground or do other weird pointy bendy things like the roads when flattening and smoothing. In the end, I ended up undoing the height adjustment and forcing the track to the surface then adjusting the height manually.

This issue has been reported as a bug in SP4. It affects track gradient, super-elevation and a few other track "visibility" issues. It seems to be a video "refresh" issue, not a track properties issue. The easiest workaround is to move a spline point to force a refresh and make the connected track segments reappear.

It's odd because that never effected me in to any extent and when it did, I replaced that particular track I was using with something else and everything worked fine afterwards. With that said, maybe it's a combination of things that caused it and the track that's getting affected by the refresh issue.

ISTR this occurred in an earlier version of Trainz, possibly a memory leak? Used to get a similar issue where using the smooth tool to conform the track to the ground would not show in Surveyor. However if you exited Trainz and it cleared out of video memory and RAM, on restarting the track and terrain was showing correctly.
