To Obsolete Or Not

Trainz Maverick
I've been doing some improvement work on my Raquette River route which was originally created in TS2010 compatibility mode, in TS12 (49922). This includes fixing an issue with the version on the DLS where most of the track splines are detached at the Raquette end, but also some general improvements - substituting a better track type, dropping spine points (where practical) so they don't float on the terrain and swapping out the older cruciform and Perfect trees (which show transparent around the edges) with ones by McGuirrel.

However I do have a bit of a dilemma when it comes to uploading. As the existing route on the DLS is effectively faulty (broken splines) it really needs to be replaced (obsoleted) but with the changes being done in TS12, no one with a lesser version than 49922 will be able to use the updated version, the solution to which is cloning the route and uploading as a new title, Raquette River 2012 or some such.

What's the general view on this please.

There's no hard and fast rule. With my routes I've always used a new kuid and added the Trainz version in the title.

I'd suggest "Raquette River TS12".

I think I will take you up on your suggestion Phil - clone the route and rename it. If I get time, I'll repair the original version in TS2010 leaving everything else as is and obsolete that.
