Tired of this CMP

I'm very tired of this lousy CMP doing whatever it wants to do:'(

I would love to use Trainz object program but it won't work on 2006.

I have so many problems with cmp that I'm almost ready to reinstall 2004 again. My CMP locks up my computer most of the time when I try to download from DLS. Then sometimes it works just fine. I do not make any changes in my settings but CMP is like a crap shoot Today it won't work tomorrow it will!
I have every edition of trainz and have been using them all so it's not my computer that is the problem, and I know what I'm doing with this program.
Anyone else having this problem??

CMP

Hi railroy19,

I never have any problems with CMP but there are a few rules I stick to. 1. Always be on line before opening CMP
2. Always let CMP find your profile and password. (if it does not find your profile re-enter your user name and password)
3. Always let CMP complete the database update before trying to download anything.

Cheers,
Bill69

And last, Reset your filters in CMP once and a while.

I always have my computer online before downloading anything.
I have never changed my profile so I don't have that problem.
I get this problem before I can even try to download anything.
I have been doing the same thing since I installed 2006 and like I said CMP
works fine one day and goes crazy the next day and If trainz is working fine and I close out of the game the next time I start up it takes over again and locks up my computer and it's very annoying.
I don't know why it has to check out the database again.

I guess I'll have to just put up with the aggravation

Anything in your download helper when you open it up? It doesn't like you leaving stuff in there when you close it.

Mike.

Tired of CMP

You are not alone with 2006... when I come to edit to commit assets the CMP stops responding. Some days it will edit two or three assets and then it stops responding... it might be several days before it decides to function again.:'(
In the end I kicked 06 in the butt and reverted back to 2004... TC tells me my video card is not good enough? I don't have any hassle with 2004

"Railroy" you have to treat CMP as if it was a rather highly strung woman. As far as I know, it has to update the databas by checking the DLS for new or updated assets, so I find that in practise the more often I use it, the less time it takes to sort itself out.I also find that even if I don't want to download something, but just want to alter configs, it sometimes crashes if it isn't online so I connect before doing anything. If it gives me that message about being unable to find my username I click Save and Save then it behaves itself.I had no end of probs when I first bought TRS2006, but if you stick with it, it'll come right.

You are not alone. The rest of us have just shrugged our shoulders and persevere with it. It's crap but it's all we have.

Best piece of advice I ever got with the CMP was this:

Be patient, and let CMP do its thing.

Sometimes, when you commit an asset, and it loads up but part way when it freezes, just wait a tic, and it will move on.

Its a fragile program (it shouldn't be, but oh well) but once you learn its tricks, you'll have very few problems with it. :)

Thanks for all the comments:)

Well yesterday I tried to download a route from the DLS. And the CMP worked like a charm! go figure. I guess you have to complain about something and sure enough it comes back to bite you in the *&%$%^
I'm going to let well enough alone and just work with the program.
CMP works fine when it wants to.

Thanks to All.

CMP doesn't freeze up
make sure you don' have too many programs working in the background
nearly had a heart attack when checking why cmp was freezing
I had more than 40 processes working at once I've reduced it to 22 on XP now it works reasonable most of the time you don't have to wait just pusk the esc key and it works happily in the background
to look at the processes just press the the windows salute ctrl alt delete
and system manager will appear look under processes

Me two

CMP works a little better (OK it works most of the time now) after a complete reinstall I had to do 6 months ago when absolutely NOTHING worked.

I agree its very sensative and I have probably got used to it which imeans its more likely to work now than not, but on my first install it would simply refuse to work for up to a week at a time. Now I only have major problems when the DLS is down.

This is a really stupid feature (bug) that I can't back up a route because the DLS is overtaxed.
