Install '19 on a remote computer

If I wanted to install a clean licensed copy of '19 on a PC with no internet access, how would go about doing that to insure I'd have all the hidden files etc to install the program?
If I install a clean copy on a pc and activate it, then do a simple back up and reinstall that on the remote computer, will that rather all the needed files? Obviously I know I won't have access to the DLS so I'd have to bring any add-on's in manually.

not possible due to DRM protection that N3V has in Place!

So you can only open Trainz if you're online? I didn't know that. To be honest I never tried. I always thought when your key was validated, it was fully installed locally.
no it doesn't work that way anymore and the reason why they did the DRM protection was to stop people from making Illegal Copies of the game... I tried launching the game with NO internet and it simply never opened until i had the internet back...

I run 19 and Tane often without an internet connection. But the programs do require to be online at least once every 30 days or so to connect with N3V servers to confirm they are valid.
If you don't connect for a longer time, the program won't let you do anything until you connect with the internet and revalidate the programs.
I don't have 22 installed, but I'd guess it is the same.

If you have USB ports on the computer, and a smartphone with USB cable you might get it working. I have done this in the past with some servers in isolated setups, and that can be used to connect with the internet, that should get it working. I don't know if you would have to do it each time. But, may be worth trying.

So one day if N3V decides to close shop, it'll be all gone? Unless of course they make some sort of a work around for current customeers. It may sound like a doomsday post, but it happens!

Yeah - should N3V decide to close up the shop (or shutdown the servers) it'll render the game useless unless you own the box copy of TANE purchased directly from N3V then it doesn't relay on the DRM servers (except the DLCs) - that'd be the latest version of Trainz you'll have.

Cheers

Thanks.. I actually came back to ask that exact question. What is the last stand-alone product they made? I guess you answered that. Now I'm off to see if it's still available! Thanks for the reply...... and the answer is "of course not"! The only TANE available is digital. Well, I'm off to eBay.... nope, that won't work either. I'm guessing routes made in '19 won't work in TANE

Not all box versions of TANE offer offline DRM. I've had a talk with Zec a while back as I was curious and it was only copies purchased from N3V had offered that - the rest (sold at hobby shops, Amazing, any 3rd party site) uses the online DRM.
Unfortunately I don't have a 3rd party box version of TANE so I can't verify it but I do own the box version that came from N3V directly.

However, N3V didn't make a lot of physical copies so in a way, its a rare thing. The box copies of TRS19 (which I also own) doesn't contain any offline option and uses the online DRM things.

When I upgraded from digital to physical (it was an option back then), it came with TANE SP2 and that I think was the latest version that made it to the box.
If I had to guess, the original versions of TANE, TANE SP1, and maybe TANE SP2. I've heard that the Kickstarter versions of TANE are offline DRM as well.

Unfortunately when you look at places (new/used) that sells a box copy of TANE, you won't know if its an offline or online DRM version until you receive it as there nothing on the cover that will tell you.

The Kickstarter "DRM Free" version still requires a phone-home after 30-days.

Interesting - didn't know that one. I though I read somewhere on the forums that they where offline DRM with a simple product key. The only part that's excluded from all offline DRM versions are the DLCs of course.

We thought it was everything and ended up sitting through lengthy validation periods after being offline and routes missing dependencies when offline. It's been how long since T:ANE was released? I think at least a decade.

Yep - already 10 years ago (11 if you toss in the Community Editions)... wow that went by fast. I'd be honest, the CE versions where fun and interesting at the same time but weren't playable yet.

Oh well, sometimes just need to try things out and see what happens ;)

Cheers

So newer Trainz versions have to "phone home" once in a while? That's how it is with some Steam games I have, like Planet Coaster and Planet Coaster 2. They have Denovo, DRM, etc. and have to "phone home" once in a while, and you must be signed into Steam to load them. They don't seem to work offline.
