Anyone who is reading this thread is probably new to the forums. As a fairly new member myself I would like to welcome you and give you some tips on how to use the forums and interact with the online community.
Let's begin. I have listed in steps what you should do as soon as you have logged in,
1. You should start by reading Auran's Code of Conduct.
This is helpful in getting familar with the rules and how to best interact with your fello members.
2. Posting a comment.
The main reason the forums are here is for help or discussion of Trainz or Trains. Find a thread you find interesting, then if you have something to say, say it! It is helpful to yourself and others to keep within the topic. You will find information not only in the thread itself, but also the comments posted.
To post a comment, go to the bottom of the page and select "Post Reply" this will bring up a notepad for you to type your message. *It is helpful to read ALL comments before posting, to make sure you stay in the "current" consversation. If you like or dislike something somebody else posted and want to quote them without having to memorize their post and type it, go to their post and on the far right it will have a button "Quote" this will make their post appear in your post. You may also edit your own post.
3. Understanding Moderators.
Moderators are the members who ensure the rules are followed and can ban people who seriously violate the CoC. Auran Admistrators are able to ban people on their discretion.
4. Getting to know your fellow Trainzers.
As you get established with the forums, people will notice you and some may even Private Message you. If you find someone you want to talk to privately, send a Private Message. Building friendships on the forums are on of the many advantages of joining the online community. These people may have more experience than you and will be able to help you with problems in Trainz. Just send a message and they will generally get back to you soon.
5. Private Messages.
As mentioned in the previous step, Private Messages come in very handy on the forums. To send a Private Message or "PM" you can select a user name on a thread, which will drop a box down, it should have an option reading [example] "send a Private Message to illinoiscentral" choose this and a notepad will appear, write your message on the notepad, then select "Submit Private Message" this will send the message. You will also recieve Private Messages via your Inbox. Unread messages will be in bold. Click it to read. To reply choose "Reply". In your own user control panel you will have an option "Send New Private Message" choose this. You will have to enter the user name, title/subject, and your message must be at least 10 letters long.
6. Starting a new Thread.
Thread starting is almost the same as posting, except you will choose start thread at the bottom of [example "General Trainz"] select that, then enter your title [the main title on the forum main page] then enter your first post in the notepad below. If people are interested in your thread the will post in it. If a "war" breaks out [generally when people disagree and fight about it] your thread might be closed at the discretion of a moderator. Moderators do this for the good of the community not for your personal offense.
7. Forum Subjects.
The forums are divided into several sections to provide different places for different subjects [example General Trainz for discussion about the game itself or Prototype talk for real trains or model trains.] There are many of these. These forums are for help and support and sometimes your own entertainment.

8. The Real Deal.
Auran's Forums are a great place to be! If you visit everyday, you get the most enjoyment out of your game. When you paid for your game, you got all of this plus a download station all included. Was it worth it? Only you can find out, so get out there and enjoy the forums.
9. My Purpose Behind This Thread.
I made this thread to inform rookies of the usefulness of the forums. When you are making friends and learning new things, it really makes this game truly the best on the market today. I hope all of you find this thread helpful and if you ever need a friend on the forums, I'm here, and I've got friends that can help you if I can't.
So lets raise a glass to the Trainz Community!
CHEERS, WOODY.

That all depends on how the forum is set up... Auran can set it so that mods can't ban users. Although, in this case, I have a feeling they can, since a few disruptives have been banned fairly quickly.

Thanks to you guys and a note from AJ Fox, I've fixed the problem. I hope this helps new members. Please contact me if any more information is wrong. This should be all.
