Tieing Handbrakes?

Hello! I saw a post about this but I can't find it now. I was humping cars in Allentown Yard right now, but I didn't know how to tie handbrakes. Without handbrakes, the cars just keep rolling and rolling and rolling, often running through a closed switch and derailing. I'm playing in Cab Mode.

Maybe the string your using isn't strong enough? :D

We always "pinned" down our handbrakes.

Anyway I believe the "A" key does something like that. I never trust TRS. I always stop and apply the automatic brake before uncoupling but then that does rule out hump or fly shunting.

Cheers

In my hump yards, I back the cut over the hump and stop briefly. When stopped I uncouple the car to run down the hill and then click ON THE CAR as it rolls down. When it gets to where you want it, hit the "A" key. The car will slam to a stop (unprototypically) but it WILL stop. Then go back and click on the engine and back up another car and repeat until the cut is done.

If the stop point of the loose car is a ways from the hump engine I fudge a bit and put a named item right at the top of the hump by the controller shack. This way, you can hit Ctrl-F and "find" the named item and go directly back to the engine.

...no...

 When you wish to de-couple, having read "de-couple from," you need to have the consist your riding, on the right-hand side of the screen.

You have to manipulate this if it does not show.

Usually, you will detach from the cut (at left), and stay with the consist your riding.

Try this, and let us know.
