Thought this might help, Free track plans for your model railway

Nice find Joe, London to Manchester reminds me of the "network" style maps some users made for Transport Tycoon, where a linear route was wrapped round and interlaced to give a longer run.

to me track plans are an excellent way of doing routes in trainz, my problem is I need someone to get them into content for me :o

I agree these are a great source of buildable routes. I've done the same thing with some old Atlas routes from their website.

To bring them in, you need to screen capture the images, or download the JPG from the internet. (Right-click on the image and choose save picture as... and type in the name you want to give it.

When done, resize the image, or divide it up to fit 1024 x 1024 basemaps.

Edit a basemap or basemaps and change the default basemap image to the one you downloaded. Remember to commit your editing.

Now create a new route, and put down the basemap. If you're using TS2010 and TS12, you have the layers. I put the basemap on the scenery layer and lock it into place by changing the edit allow to locked (on the layers tab). This will prevent an accidental bumping and moving around of the basemap.

If you're interested in seeing what can be done, download my Scenic and Relaxed. This is one of Atlas' 9 NScale layouts from their original book.
