Now what you want to do is....

Grab a set of JVC rocks....the smallest ones of 4. There are multiple sets of 4, going from very big to small....you want smallest. Get ones that match you layout. I couldn't find one so I made my own. Yup, but I can't figure out how to upload them...so at this point you are on your own....but, there's plenty to choose from.

What I did was layed my rock right on top of the spline until i got an area filled with rocks, then I used the cut and paste tool..and using the "[" key began spinning rocks up and down the spline.

At this point it looks like any other river.

Albeit, crappy blue...could be a creek paint with rocks on top of the paint.

Do You Know What I'm Talking About? Without shouting?

Looks like a bumpy ride!

I always find splines are the better bet for water, and you can get different effects out by using different textures under the surface!

Cheers,
Joshua

Ok Next Step.

Let's put them rocks where they belong...under the water. To do this we start at the bottom of the spline....lowest point. We set the Plateau (SP) to a the narrowist radius....and begin moving up the spline. ie Water goes up hill in tranz...

As you move slowly up the spline...notice my settings...them dam rocks just slide right under the spline...water...where they belong.

Amazing!!!!

Now at this point...

You are going to get some flying rocks.... Just grab them an move them towards the center of the river. You can see when the first go under water, and fuss an muss all you want.

Next...

I pull up my trusty color...blue. Water in Michigan is blue, and there's a lot of it. but if yours is brown use brown. Only thing is make sure you are wide enough in radius to cover the river, the bank...all of it. It's the base color, it's the darkest, and you always lay down the darkest colors first.

Yet, definitely add a great texture.

Did you see those lily pads made by George? I think it was George.

Those are great to this type to scene too, especially if you plan to add veggies to the shore.

Cheers,
Joshua

Next Step..

Let's paint the bottom of the river...I use this color and you'll see why in a couple of shots. Get the radius narrow and stay in the middle of the river. Oh yea, be sure to spin it using the "[".

Here we go...

You know they say you can judge a father by how other measure his son. And if they don't say that I made it up. ie..Childern are suppose to do better then their parents...all me are.

Back to the river..

By spinning the paint...

The translunce of the water...combined with the ripples...it looks turpid from any direction including up.

Next step shoreline..

For me this is easy...this color...I used it on a set of JVC rocks that he said I can reskin and upload to DLS..but haven't figure out how to do that yet.

So I tack my color that matches my rock...and I move it on the shoreline, and spin it using "[" to blend in my JVC rock clones.

Then you take these things...

Called waterfall top plumes. Don't put them in the river...put them off to the side and spin them in the flow of the river....near a rock..comming down a shoot...

Once you got them on the angle you want them slide them in the river. They match that fiver bottom paint you spun in. You know how long it takes to figure this stuff out?
