The Trainz Helpdesk is worthless!!!

I think you will find that N3V does not sell Trainz 2006 any more. Now that does not mean that some other store is selling it however. However N3V doesn't have any control over store selling their backlog of TRS2006 copies. It just means that your buying an out of date product that is no longer supported. A First Class Ticket only gives you access to the DLS, not full functionality.

Dude I knew this already and I am completely aware of only being able to use the DLS for downloading old content and was never expecting newer content for TRS2006! That's all I want is to be able to use the DLS and download some of the old content that works in TRS 2006 that I had previously! I bought a FCT in May 2011 and it worked fine, I was able to activate the ticket and download for it! Why am I being given all of this drama from CMP "Querying ticket status" when I purchased a ticket and activated it in my Planet Auran profile and "applying filters" when I don't really see the point in this! Again, I am completely aware of Auran not making new content for TRS 2006 and i just wanna be able to download the older content that's available there, but this is not possible because of the two issue that I mentioned above. Is there any help for that? That's all I'm asking...

Shane, I posted that same quote in another thread (somewhere). There was one poster who stated that he had a FCT and only TS2006 and was still able to download, so either he's an exception, or the statement in the Newsletter is in error. Helpdesk was notified of the discrepancy. Awaiting reply now.

I was too last year long after Auran stopped supporting TRS 2006! I was never asking for newer content for TRS 2006, I just want to download the older content that I had previously and I know it works in 2006! I was angry because the Helpdesk didn't try and understand what I was asking and instead they just showed me the disclaimer and basically told me the take a hike up the mountain!

Ah and now we come to the root of the problem...

This is the first time in this thread (that I've seen) in which you've actually mentioned what the issue was that you were having that made you go to the Helpdesk. Previously all I saw was ranting on how the Helpdesk wasn't helping you because you had TRS2006; and how you thought they should. My points still stand that you will not get any help from the Helpdesk if you have TRS2006 regardless of when you bought it and if you have an FCT or not; and that N3V (perviously Auran) does not sell TRS2006 any more.

Now about your issue. A couple questions to be addressed:
How big of an FCT did you buy, there are a couple different time lengths available?
Have you tried doing anything on your own to remedy the situation, if so what?
What does your Planet Auran profile say in relation to your FCT stats?
Is your login information still stored by CMP? On occasion I've found that CMP will forget login information (usually when doing cookie & cache clearing, or scanning for viruses and such). This doesn't happen all that often but will on occasion & is more prone to happen in TRS's CMP.

Now some things you can try:
The simplest thing to try is simply logging out & logging back in in CMP. This means open CMP & go to it's settings. Remove your login details (select & delete). Close CMP. Relaunch CMP & re-enter your details.

Next is to try refreshing your account. Using the link above, go to your Planet Auran profile. Change your password, it can be something new or the same thing as the old one. Do NOT have CMP or TRS running while doing this.

Try accessing the DLS with your Virus Scanner turned off, (or if you know how, putting in an exception for Trainz).

Sometimes CMP will tell me it never heard of me and my login despite having a continuous FCT for years. If that happens, I don't even close CMP. What I do is open up the Internet tab, enter complete gibberish into the username and password field. Then I click my way out. CMP Will tell me almost immediately that I've entered bad info (which I already know) and re-open the Internet tab automatically. I now enter GOOD information and click my way out. This time I am re-logged in and everything is fine.

EDIT: Peter, your reason for edit was "spelling/grammer"? I agree :hehe:

Again, Auran/N3V gave fair and explicit warning, including mentioning specifically that they could make changes that would break the ability for TRS2006 to use the DLS. Not that they NEEDED to explicitly state this, because when a product is no longer supported, anything goes. But, they did. If you didn't realize that, then the blame is on YOU for failing to conduct due diligence. Not to mention, did you ever stop to think that TRS2006 is a 6-year-old piece of software coming from a bargain bin? Didn't common sense kick in at least a little?

In any case, based on Shane's extremely-reliable information, Auran/N3V may have cut off downloading in accordance with the stated policy. They have done nothing wrong and everybody had PLENTY of advance warning.

Bear in mind that you still may be able to DL off the Black Pages though. And, do a search for Trainz Download Helper, which, IIRC, was a third-party addon that expedited the download process from the Black Pages.

Actually it was only one thing, I originally wrote "Now some thing you can try:" and proceed to write a list of things to try. Then realized that it should read "things". I also bolded text in the edit. but "spelling/grammar" seemed easier to write then "I bolded some stuff, added an 's' on the end of a word, and double checked for red squiggly lines." :D

Now naturally this meant I was doomed to spell something in the edit line incorrectly. As I was being lazy :P

PS: I actually wrote the whole first paragraph & then realized what you were actually pointing out. Ugh need more coffee.

I have a 3 month Ticket. My Auran Profile says that I have a FCT that will expire April 2012. Whenever I launch CMP, my login information is never stored, I have to input it every time. To remedy the issue I mess around and make sure i'm logged in and everything and after about 10 mins of CMP not recognizing my ticket and applying filters I quit and do other stuff.

Issues like this are usually a sign that: 1. You have not fully assigned Administrative privileges to Trainz. Try running Trainz as admin; frankly, I'd just disable UAC entirely as it ganks a lot of things up and, if you aren't the patient type, it's just not worth the hassle. 2. Do an Extended Database Repair if the username and password aren't saving. A corrupt database is actually usually the cause of password errors.

I see the first have was read. Have you tried any of my suggestions? RRSignal's are good ones to look into as well.

HiBaller also posted the same (or very similar information) in another thread, but I could not seem to find it...

The third-party utility in question is Trainz Downloader Pro, but be aware that due to a Auran/N3V coding change on the web-based DLS, this will only display one result (the top one) for a search, even if the main results page shows more than one.

My suggestion to users who want to keep up to date with things like that is to subscribe to the Trainz Newsletter. This can be done from the Planet Auran profile, which I have provided a link to in 'Forum and Planet Auran Links (at least until N3V sort theirs out)' in the General Trainz forum.

There is a bit of a conflict between that change and the Life-Cycle policy, though.

Again, possibly trying to get users of this product to fork out even more money

Trainz Jan. 2012 Newsletter stated:
Finally, please note that First Class Tickets are not a physical product. You won't need to wait for the postman before you can take advantage of your purchase. And keep in mind that to use a First Class Ticket, you will need a registered Planet Auran account and a copy of Trainz Simulator 09 or above.
I hope this is NOT true, and N3V Games Pty Ltd (NOT the administrators or moderators of this forum) need to reply and clarify this ASAP, and especially since so called "first class ticket" holders fork out extra money.

So IF TRUE, then it is just another way of forcing people (that would like to buy Trainz) to buy the latest version.

While you know our views on the FCT, people who pay for this extra ticket, should be allowed to download from ANY version, no matter how old.

Could you please explain what you mean a bit further?

At Shaneturner, I don't believe that that's the only conflict between N3V Games & what is written on the ACTUAL game versions themselves.

Certainly.

Have a look at this:

Ok. Since the last time spoke about this issue, I tried some of I tried everything that you guys recommended and still no results, however I uninstalled Trainz and re-installed it again and once it has been re-installed logged in I was able to access the DLS (recognizes my ticket and tells me how many days I have left) and the minute I try and download something, CMP goes unresponsive and when I restart CMP, it says "Please wait, applying filters" and does this forever.

Xero, I'm glad to see you have tried solutions, do you Trainz and CM set as exceptions on your firewall?

The Applying Filters bug was a major problem for versions of TRS2006 that did not have SP1 installed (pre-3092).

Check your version in-game. If it's less that 3092 then you will need to patch it straight after a reinstall.

Okay I got it to work. I uninstalled Trainz and reinstalled it and before opening it, I applied the patch and CMP found my ticket and I was able to add stuff to my asset inventory and they show up in game too. BUT NOW it "rebuilds assets database" and once that's complete it checks for my username, password and my registered serial number (which I don't understand why that's even necessary, because it found ticket so of course I'm logged in) and it does on and on forever and when I click on something it CMP it will stop responding...

It seems like we are almost there, now what's going on this time?
