The Next CityRail (LG PICS)

I think this is a cool idea, like on the NEC they change the electric equipment out for Diesel, all points south of DC....Or on the Empire Corridor (NY State) were they change from P32 Genesis to P42 for all points north of Albany

Yeah by under the wire, I mean electrified. I think it would be great for one end of the route to be a mix of Electric powered trains as well as Diesel powered trains too. Then half way through the route, There would be a fair sized terminal area where either Electric Commuter Trains could terminate or there could be a change over to Diesel power.

Your choice but just remember as Aussies we are funny buggers and we will give you a bit of stick over it in a light heart kind of way.
Plus it will go nice joined to my CityRail route and give my mob somewhere to run CityRail rolling stock.:hehe:

Well the route is design to be ran pretty much anyway someone wants to run it. And there is plenty of track to do so....

The new route will split somewhere down the line. The Desert line's design will be based on the Cajon and Needles Sub routes, while the other line known as Coast Line, will be based on the line the Coast Starlight uses between San Luis Obispo and San Jose. By the end of the route's development and release, we expect to have a very long route exceeding 300 miles in length.

More pics are on their way!

Well it's time for this thread to take off! :)

An Amtrak commuter train arrives at Fierro Station. The Catenarys in the background are for the Light Rail System...(Yes, the new CityRail route includes Light Rail).

*Sorry for the low-graphc settings, SP1 is kicking my PC in the head....

Anyways....

Amtrak crosses Plaza Ave Crossing.

On June 25th, this new route will get it's name. If anyone wants to try to guess what it'll be called, feel free.

Some more info:

The new route is brand new from the ground up. It's a NORTH AMERICAN based route that will take fun to a whole new level. The route is built and designed to run pretty much every kind of train. Whether that be coal, intermodal, or passenger, this route can do it.

The new route is totally SP1 compatible. The route uses newer assets that include thumbnails, the newer assets have to meet a criteria before being put into the route.

Our own custom content is in this route. While not in the pics above, the route will include our new scenery items, some already available for Season Pass Members.

About the route itself:

The new CityRail goes a slightly different way than previous CR routes. This route does everything, but in a very unique way. The route is more scenic, not meant for constantly being in the fast lane. When at the head end, users won't always be speeding along at 79 or even the 110mph limits that were previously featured in CR4, yes, there are high speed zones that are up to 79mph, but we wanted to break the pattern we've been going and do something different.

Along the route, users can expect to be going over what were calling the Annison Mountain Pass, this pass is something of a challenge to build, but in the end, it is looking to be a beautiful piece of the route. We'll very soon have pics of the route and the Annison Pass, which if your curious is double track most of the way. :)

More pics coming soon!

Alright! I like the shots so far and the Light rail is a great start, but I still can't run an AEM-7 :hehe:. Now will this route be only SP1 and above or will it be able to work in Trs12 with out SP1? Looking forward to the custom content!

Well I might as well say it now.....

The next CityRail will have a High Speed Rail System.... So AEM7's and Acelas are a welcomed party. :)

This route is being built in SP1, but it shouldn't have any issue being back dated to Pre-SP1. We'll test that part out later on.

After some debate within PT and several design changes, we finally locked in a design for the route and plan to continue this direction.

We decided to go a whole different route, rather than all big cities and oceans, we wanted to do a more scenic and countryside kind of route. The new route won't have High Speed Rail and doesn't have a light rail system, the new route is more conventional and will be able to be expanded in the future.

An example of the Built-To-Expand concept, the Valley Sub turns and merges into the Lynnburg Sub. The Valley Sub is the corridor that'll be used for the next CityRail route.

We wanted to make the route more "Lively" so we wanted to add scenes to give some extra experience for users.

A nice doublestack rolling through Lynnburg off the Valley Sub.

A look into San Martin Station.

Commuter train departs San Martin and heads towards Lynnburg down the main.

A commuter train pulls into the depot at San Martin.

This new CityRail route will be a somewhat more modern version of CityRail3, so we don't plan on packing in scenery. The route is being designed and built for use on pretty much any PC running TS12 with SP1 or later. So don't worry about whether or not you have a fancy PC. However we don't plan on stopping there, we want to make sure anyone can enjoy this route, so we will be working on a more detailed version that'll have more details and such.

Don't be disappointed that this route doesn't have overhead lines, we have two routes in the works that both have overhead wires, one of which is a Light Rail route.

More pics are on their way!

Well I finally have an update to share for everyone!

The route officially has received it's name CityRail5 River Valley Sub. The route is a base for expansion in which will add to the experience of running to the route further down the line. Currently the route doesn't stretch too far, but it's coming along quite nicely.

CR5-RVS is a modern version of CR3. Pretty much aimed at those who don't have the higher end computers and such. While some areas are heavier in scenery, the route will essentially keep things at a low profile, but in the end look very nice and be an extremely fun route.

There will be much more to see very soon. The last pic shows the example of our "Expansion Concept" The route will be open for expansion for future updates and upgrades. The incomplete lines gives an extra dose of fun with scenes of construction and business on the railroad.

In the last pic, the Amtrak train takes the curve at River Valley Jct and rounds the bend onto the River Valley Sub. The line that continues straight (the line with the incomplete jct switch) is the Xpress Rail Gold Line/ Lynndale Sub.

The route is starting to come together and hopefully within the next few weeks, I'll have some finished pics of trains running on the RVS in the valley itself!

Got some more shots of some test runs being made on CR5!

Special XpressRail test train slowly approaches Lynnburg station at River Valley Jct. The double tracks it's coming off of is the end of the Lynnburg Sub.

The Test Train coming up the hill making it's way towards Lynnburg.

Test Train departs Lynn Int'l Airport. These trains will periodically run on the route to test tracks and signals.

Amtrak 61 makes it's way out of Downtown and starts it's long journey to it's destination!

Some incomplete shots:

Amtrak 61 flies through the valley. Vegetation hasn't been added yet, but soon, this region will flourish with some awesome plants!

Testing out some texture mixes... Amtrak 61 heads down the hill and into River Valley.

Amtrak 61 slowly starts into the River Valley Sub after passing the Lynnburg Sub Construction site.

The route is coming along nicely, very excited to be able to start showing the progress! Soon, we'll have a video for the route to show some additional areas!

Hope you enjoy!

Thought I'd get some play time in CityRail5 and share what was going on during that time.

Sorry for the low quality, PC is crap and were looking to get a new one soon. So I turned down the graphics. Anyways...:D

(All train names set for CityRail5 are fictional, cause fake names are fun! :) )

Amtrak 150, the River Valley Limited departs Lynn Terminal and begins it's journey.

Further down the line, Amtrak 151 approaches Lynn Terminal touching down to flat ground after passing through the hills.

Veterans unit #42 came along for the ride today. Amtrak 151 makes the bend into downtown.

Amtrak 151 and 150 pass each other at Lynn-River Maintenance Facility.

Amtrak 150 makes the bend out of downtown and begins it's sprint to it's next stop.

Amtrak 151 rolls into Lynn Terminal. After all passengers are off, the train will back to the shops for cleaning and check ups before becoming tomorrow's 151.

That's all for now! More coming soon!
