The LMS Princess Coronation Pack

Good Morning to the folks at Auran/N3V, I hope you've enjoyed your holidays. Now that your back in the office here are some images of the LMS Duchess pack showing some mesh issues for you to peruse. I hope there will be a 'fix' forthcoming.

Cheers,

Rob.

Dispite these minor, if annoying, mesh issues, I think this is an outstanding loco and coaches, but two questions:

(a) it's very clean and tidy in 'ex works' condition - any chance of a weathered version? (particularly important for the BR version I would have said!)

(b) the Stanier coaches are great, but any chance of a set in BR Maroon (perhaps more accurate to run with the loco in BR green and late BR lion and wheel logo?)

regards
Paul

These models are quite easy to reskin, I have done several different versions myself, purely for my own use of course!

If you are handy with an image processing package e.g. Paint Shop Pro or GIMP you could 'weather' them and also create new skins such as BR Maroon.

I agree with you about the model being outstanding despite the mesh issues.

Cheers,

Rob.

I note the Duchess model is now being packaged with the Blue Comet model for 39.95AUD. ( latest Trainz Newsletter )

I am somewhat disappointed that the mesh issues with the Duchess pack, as pointed out by myself previously in this thread, have not yet been acknowledged by N3V other than by Zec Murphy or, the more likely case, aren't going to be fixed at all!

I don't know about others who have bought the Duchess package but I am quite disappointed with it in it's current state, especially now it's being discounted albeit in a package with the Blue Comet.

I know they're having problems during/post the flooding in Queensland, but an indication, from N3V, that there might be a 'fix' for the Duchess pack is on the cards would be courteous to say the least!

Sorry folks to rattle on about this but I like 'value for money' and I don't like incomplete items such as the Duchess pack in it's current state.

Cheers,

Rob.

Hi Rob
Sorry I didn't get back to you on this, been pretty hectic the past week :(

I did pass this on to Rob (our lead artist), who will look into it. Not sure what will happen at this stage, however he is going to discuss it with the team when things settle down a bit in a couple of weeks.

Basically, at this stage, it's a maybe... Better than a no mind :)

Here's a slightly weathered BR Green Duchess with late BR logo. The weathering may need a little more work. They're reskins of the Auran Duchess package BR Green. ( note the mesh problem at top of smokebox )

That's a problem with reskins on payware I don't think they can be uploaded to the DLS.

Yep, thanks for the tip, but I'm aware of that. I have no intention of trying to upload it to the DLS, the reskin is purely for my own use. I just posted a piccy to illustrate that even a relative newcomer to Trainz such as myself, can have a go at making a reasonable reskin of a model, reasonable in my own humble opinion of course.

Cheers,

Rob.

What I great weathering job Rob!

That's as I remember seeing the BR steam engines as a kid during the 1950s and 60s. A much better look than the gleaming versions now only seen in museums and heritage railways (well for nostalgia in Trainz anyway!)

Nice work!

Cheers

Thanks very much for your comment Casper. I tried to make it so that it would look less 'toy like' in layouts, giving a sense of realism.

Cheers,

Rob.

That's a great shot of a well used loco, what a great pity that weathered versions are not included to make it more realistic. I also think it's a great shame they have mesh faults and hope they get fixed as I would love to purchase these great British loco's.
I'll wait and see.

Great weathering job there Rob! Wish I could produce something like that. Any chance you could post a simple step by step guide as to how you produced it and what software? I'd quite like to have a go at this myself as I have a feeling we won't be seeing anything from N3V.

Next step maroon Stanier coaches? ;)

I downloaded the Duchess pack last night and since then I`ve attempted to install it into TS2010 without any success. My version of TS 2010 is version 44088.
Every time I install the pack I get a message.....................

"An existing Trainz (TS2009 or TS2010) installation was not detected at the location"

My 44088 version of TS2010 is working very well except when I try to install the Duchess pack the pack cannot see the Trainz execute file and i cannot understand this.

Any ideas gents.

You could try pointing the installer at the right location (...)

Paul,

Thanks for the prompt reply.......I`ve tried that.
The Duchess pack doesn`t see anything when I try with the "browse" buton.

Gents,

Eventually got it done......I had to put the Duchess pack install file inside the TS2010 programme...............then it worked.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the compliment :).

I think you may be right about N3V

I may have a go at the coaches.

Check your PM.

Rob.

The DLS has loads of re-skins of Built in items so I can not see why a re-skin could not be uploaded unless it's an technical issue!

Zec, could you find out if a re-skin could be uploaded or is it a big no-no?

Regards.

Built in reskined items are allowed to be uploaded. But payware which the dutches is, is NOT allowed to be uploaded

I'm not certain I agree with you, some of my items are included as built in but I don't recall ever giving blanket permission to reskin them.
