The LMS Princess Coronation Pack

Purchased this earlier this evening and very glad i did.

Excellent quality and what a joy to have something other than MK1`s to haul.

The Period III coaching stock is well modelled and the interiors and interior views are outstanding.

GWR release next time please Auran. :D

Anyway of adding the water pick up scoop from the Britannia tender, to the Duchess tenders and have them working ?
You'll need to add attachment points for the scoop and the particle emitters - and extract the relevant bits out of the Britannia tender script. Should be doable if you can open the assets for editing.

Thanks Paul, it sounds beyond my capabilities.

Better leave well alone. ;)

Thank you anyway.

Go to the section 'Stock List' and click on 'show'. Bear in mind that any that have 'Str' in the style column will not be technically correct most likely, since they would have been built streamlined, and when de-streamlined would have the 'semi streamlined' style smoke box, which the Auran pack doesn't model. (Edit: well, unless you are setting a session after the 'S'Box Circular' date, I guess)

I wonder, why N3V or Auran or whatever doesn´t make a facelift to the ingame train models like the one to this steam engine?

Different modelers create different models. Most content doesn't come from N3V or Auran but from hobbyists who make things for free then share them.

My understanding is even this model doesn't have an operating water pick up scoop as some models do so it would appear there is room for improvement even here.

So this model is not created by Auran or N3V? Because they could do that to all the built-in content, but we know that´s not going to happen. Somehow it would be great.

The LMS Princess Coronation (Duchess Class) Pack was created by Auran/N3V by our internal artist Uncle Rob.

However, many built-in items were not created by Auran/N3V. Many items were created by 3rd party creators, and have been added over the years. Either because they were used in a map/session, or because they were offered to us.

This isn't to say that all of them weren't created by Auran/N3V. Just many of them. Many of the older (Trainz 1.3/UTC) items, and even a fair few TRS2004 items, were created by Auran/N3V. However, the amount of time required to update all of these would be astronomical. In reality, it's easier to start the models again (believe me, it is - I've tried 'updating' older models, you end up building a lot of it again anyway!). You then need to create new texture maps, then textures, then get it ingame, create all the other dependencies as needed, etc, etc.

That said, a fair few were 'lightly' updated in TS2010. They weren't bought up to full 2009/2010 standards, but they were improved over the older items by giving them sharper (or 'clearer') textures, adding specular, and cleaning up the odd details. Not perfect, but they do 'fit' better with many of the current models when compared with the originals.

However, there are still many 3rd party items that we could not 'upgrade' in this way, since we don't have the source files. As above, generally it is better to start an item again. And that's not a fast process. Certainly not something that could be achieved in 'one hit', since it would either required a large team of artists (which costs more = more expensive game!) or would require more time (which means it costs more = more expensive game!).

That said, I too would love to see some of the older models bought up to 'modern' standards. Especially the VR S class locos (and correct a few errors in these :) ), the CR/AN GM class locos, and the SAR 930 class locos (and the SAR rolling stock). But, then, these are also items that could be done by the community as well. The community has shown that it can put out some pretty damn good content, and I'm sure someone will pick up one of the projects you are after one day :)

Thanks S301 first of all for your quick response, I appreciate it.

I´m not very into modelling but I believe that creating a train model from 0 is quicker that "refurbishing" it, what I mean is, ok, it would take long time to accomplish that task, but... Didn´t they have enought time since they first released TRS 2004? I mean, 6 years to do it. They really did something good making original models look "cool" and they improved also the cabs, but I mean, why don´t they just work in their own models by releasing them with the same look as these ones? (Blue comet and LMS Coronation)

I also have the knowledge about adding stuff from 3rd content creators, but I just was making reference to the very original, however I also think about adding an option to install or not these addons, so we could just get really whatever we wanted in game.

Offtopic: I don´t know if you have/had MSTS, but it gives an option to install just the necessary files or all of them, well something similar could be implanted here.

I´m not against these creations, infact all that involves a big effort building a model with that accuracy is worthy of admiration, but, why don´t they work in their own models also instead of adding all the time (in general) 3rd content creators? I´m paying to Auran/N3V not to the 3rd content creators that do it for free, it´s the company responsibility to do it, not saying that I don´t want custom content, but they really need to work their own staff, they can´t depend in us all the time.

Excuse me if I didn´t explaine myself very correctly, I´m trying my best xD (Gotta go to work to England for a year to get back my English) =P

Saludos! ;)

As Promised a set of 136 UK Steam Era Consists

UK Steam Era Consists

The vast majority of these are for 1948 - 1968, based on information gleamed from the net and photos online and in books. These are 2010 upwards and will require the S&C pack and addons along with items of the DLS.

Rob

Hi Rob.

How do you get to use these consists as I can not find anything in my TS2010 + (SC addon) showing up anywhere? Do you plant them in surveyor, or should they appear in the quickdrive menu?

I do notice that I can not commit them in CM. Opening for edit, all I find is a .chump file.

Regards.

They should just import into 2010 cmp like any other cdp content, they would then be visible under the consists section in surveyor under the rolling stock pop out menu. If they have imported correctly into cmp if you opened one up for edit in all you should get is a config.txt file. You will know if you have got them as you will have at least 12 different consists for coal wagons of varying tonnage.

Whats the chance of a patch for this model the Duchess they used the S&C route as a re-route for WCML engineering works I am a bit suprised it was not modeled with a working scoop.

ohanlon:(

Hi Rob, I am very grateful for the long list of consists you made for S&C. It helps me a lot to put some realistic trainz on my routes. I am assuming you have also acquired the Princess. Would it be possible you make the correct consists for this set as well? It would make me very happy to drive the Princess as she should. Thanks in advance, and no problem if you don't feel up to it.

I am looking for consists that use the Stanier coaches, they are just a bit hard to find on the net.

Perhaps Uncle Rob could be persuaded to update the loco with a working water scoop, please.

IKB.

I'll certainly pass on the suggestion to the team when they come back. Not sure if we'll be making an update or not, but I have spotted a few mesh issues that I'll let them know about too (the odd unwelded poly, leaving a 'gap, that sort of thing, pretty easy to miss when you create something)
