The Illinois Railway Museum Route

Just so ya know, that font is completely off on the NYC car. I don't know of one you can get without paying for it, so what you could do is just mod it. Shouldn't be too hard. Same for the CB&Q car too, especially because it doesn't use a serif font. The windows are completely off on it too, so I'd recommend using Magicland's RPO and then movign the windows around on it. It also appears that it's floating. Might wanna mod the trucks on that.

Cool job on the IC electrics, although again, the NH details kinda throw it off... A lot... What I did when I did IC electrics (waaay back when I was a wee noob at modding stuff), was take Whitepass's N&W coach and mod the heck out of it by adding a bunch of custom detail meshes. I think that I have it around here somewhere, maybe I'll finish it some time (with my new skin kit, of course). They were 70ft long (the length of a regular coach), so it would fit nicely.

That sounds pretty difficult.

A Preview of what we've been working on. :) I would show more but I have to leave for work now so only a small update today. More to come soon.

Caboose was skinned by another new member of my team (benjaminw) (With some help by Trainboi1 with Fonts) Glad to have him on board. This caboose has a bogy modification so I will have to contact the owner of the trucks before I can release it.

I think this will be the first ever release of a North Shore Line piece since the 06 era. :)

I plan on doing that tomorrow, I would do that today but I have to leave in 30 minutes to go to work. But I do plan on doing that very soon. :)

Hey Matt, just a heads up, I don't have permission (or the desire, since they're extremely old skins of mine) to release the cabooses I did, and I would suppose the same for any skins on Sandman2's stuff since his email always bounces (a bunch of us have tried asking), so I'd advise you to find another caboose model.

Aside from that, I'd say those coaches do need a bit of work, such as weathering, detail, proper shading, et cetera. Try to not rely on the bump map as much since that only shows up in the light and not in shadows. I'd say the Lackawanna coaches need a good bit of work too, especially with that wood texture. Something else seems off about the skins, although I can't pinpoint it. It's a good start but all around I think that they need some tlc.

Those lightweight skins are decent, but you should focus on the aforementioned improvements, as well as color matching, correct fonts, the resolution (which I can see is a big issue), et cetera. Overall, I'd just say keep trying at it until you get something decent. :)

I'm not going to release those cabooses Jackson I'm just using them to fill in for other caboose for now. But thanks for the advice there Jackson. I appreciate it.

You say you can't reach him, but he just gave me permission today to release my reskin of his caboose. (which is waiting for final Auran approval) I will add a pic

P.S. I am glad to see my fix for the Y6b works well.

I think you got a very nice looking route going on there, Matt. Keep up the nice work and keep the screenshots coming :) .

Thanks guys for all the support and kindness. It certainly helps me cope with making this route better and causes me to make more urge to keep working on this project.

Not much to report today but I am working on finishing up reskins on passenger cars with Joe, and some freight cars with Ben, waiting on permission from certain content creators to give the green light to release these reskins, lots of research and and something very special that will make my route special that (I hope) will even want to make the JR guys drool over for this route to be finished. In the meantime I found this documentary that truly explains why I love this museum so much with a heart of gold.
