Hi Michael, well it will be worst case if you don't follow the doc's orders! Nice to see the island again! I think we feel the same about that dang tane thing. It really makes me laugh to hear Hillerman or whatever his name is telling us how hard he has been working. Geez, he didn't even know what was going on when he was off on vacation climbing some mountain. I would think he would have put off his trip until tane was finished. Well to be fair that will be a long, very long time from now. I imagine the DRM thing is working like a charm. I don't believe we will be able to use tane without it. He will force it on those who use tane one way or another. I guess the content creators might be able to save them. Why don't they pay these guys? They are the ones that really sell this sim. Oh it's going to be the journey of a life time alright! I wish I was 12 again, I might then have enough years to see what it turns out like. Hee, hee, I think they are sending out an update as soon as it is shipped out. That would be a great way to sneak the DRM in on the guys who are getting the non DRM version ... if there really is such a beast! I feel sorry for the guys emptying their pockets buying new gear hoping they will be able to run it. I'll stay with what I have and keep it off line. I have STILL seen nothing yet that even looks as good as TS12. In fact, the shots seem to be getting worse. What a farce!
Take care of your limbs bud!
Cheers .... Rick .... yes, someday the content creators will make it great. n3v, or whatever, has done nothing to be blowing their horn over.
Sometimes, I have to question people with a business degree on whether or not they actually learned and know something or if it is just a piece of paper that says they know something. I think that the way TANE is/was working out is just nuts and not the way I would've done it. I've seen many games that get delayed a year sometimes because they just aren't finished. People still bought the game and were still happy, plus they knew it actually worked. Any game is going to have its bugs and needs updates, but you should smooth over the major holes that might cause the game to work incorrectly in development and testing.Let's see .... where to start, the good (great!) or the bad. The bad I guess. Honestly, I thought this would be like a professionally done simulator. At first I had no idea how much this company depended on the creators (the good ones). Now I believe trainz would be just a memory without them. They do the great work, n3v reap the rewards.
There are NO excuses in the business world. You don't send out an unfinished product with the promise that down the road it will be completed. It's like buying a new truck. Are you going to settle for a sales pitch like this, "This baby is going to be the mother of all trucks in a few years! You might be able to drive it now, if not, don't worry, we're still fine tuning it." Are you going to buy that truck? Are you going to wait a few years and see how well the mother of all trucks turns out? Are you just going to keep your old truck, maybe not perfect, but at least it gets you where you want to go? Are you going to buy another kind of truck?
Pete, I only have a grade 9 education. I could claim that I have a GED (can't remember what it's called) 83% grade 12 average, but those tests were only common sense. I avoided computers for many years. Most of my friends and I thought they were for weirdos. I never dreamed the day would come that I would own a computer. So, like I've always admitted, I'm not the brightest guy, amazed I can get anything done in this sim. Common sense tells me this is not the way to get new people to buy your product. Sure you make suck a bunch of people into buying it, that will get you a few bucks, but they are not going to give you anymore of their money and your reputation will suffer.
I believe than the main idea behind tane is to get people to buy the payware items that I'm sure we will be seeing lots of. I think that was their number one goal. Do you think this DRM is something they are doing for us? I don't think I have to tell you that I don't mind paying for quality work. I just believed that tane should be all they say it was going to be right out of the box.
Wow, Steve, good thing you're not here, I'd be kissing you right now! That is shaping up to be one of your best locos! Man, what a great job you're doing! Thanks so much for all you've done for me! I think I will just look at her for a couple of hours, too late to work on the route today.
Sorry guys, I just can't understand why so many think these guys can do no wrong.
Hi Michael, I hear things are pretty dry out in B.C. and big forest fires are already burning. Where's all that rain you guys get when you need it!?
Cheers all have a great long weekend! ....Rick
