The Alabama & Southeastern RR WIP Thread (Large Screenies)

Most of the A&SE's small branches like this have a small 3-4 track yard near the turnaround point, so it's a good detail to add.

Good, I have a short 6 track yard including the maintenance track(still working that out) and siding... here's a shot(note the siding on the bottom right, it leads to some industry):

Very nice! I'd recommend switching over to the terrain version of that track before release, the terrain version has a better look to it.

Lots! Keep up the good work man! If my gimp will come out of this massive freeze up, I'll be getting back to work on a SD60 skin.

Also, my normal complicated yard approach (I love switching puzzles/nightmares :hehe:). The track on the far right is the old main:

You're gonna kill some of the drive-by railfans as close to the tracks as that road is. I'd recommend moving it a bit further away from the yard, give the yard crew a bit of space! I don't think the switchman can throw a switch without getting ran over. Also, this is a low traffic branch line, replace those automatic turnouts with manual ones. Sorry if it comes across a bit bossy, I'm just trying to help get it as realistic as possible. I do like your yard setup though, but please don't add more tracks! Small branch line=Small yard. It's perfect just like that. Put in the other yard ladder and you're all set. Also amen to switchman's nightmares. Best switchman nightmare ever on this route is working Summit Yard (yard at the top of the Cheaha Pass Grade) in late December, at night (it's on a cliff ) in the snow, in subfreezing temperatures, with a full yard! That place is gonna be so much fun!

The road is there to give it a street running feel, more of a street running feel on the siding though. A major problem:

And my railfanning trip:

And as always the local idiot:

Also do I spy some A&SE hoppers there on that second train? Yes, yes I do. I wish you guys could see this SD60, it's lookin' hot! It should be done tomorrow. Now, back to Algebra II and French II homework. :o

XD well how about that? Fresh from the paint booth: A&SE (ex-SOO) SD60's.

I find it easier to do track first roads later, that way the roads don't get in the way of the tracks and you don't have to redo them. If you're good with track work and trainz isn't screwing something up then you can get 4 miles done REALLY fast. Especially seeing how there's practically no way for trainz to screw up a single track branch line. Double/triple track main lines I can understand (happens to me all the time) but not singles. go ahead and finish that track, worry about the roads later.

Should have learned by now... shame on me.

Just thought of something from the first post:
Switchman roadkill for dinner anyone? :hehe:

It's cool, you're still somewhat new (though you oughta be catching on at this point) you'll figure it out. Go with the way that works best for you. My way involves hitting the exit game button and skinning crap while conrailfan does the work.:hehe: I'm far from being a great route builder.

Yeah, I'm gonna try this one but I warn you, there might be 30-40 buildings at the mill that have nothing to do with wood :hehe:, but seriously, there might be, I'm not good with setting up industries...
