Hello Seth,
If i lived in the Horseshoe Curve area like you do i would probably accept that challenge, however creating any prototypical route is a massive undertaking which requires alot of time and energy and i cannot justify doing that just for a contest, im sure you are modelling Horseshoe for more reasons than just to compete with MSTS2. I am happy to wait for MSTS2 for Horseshoe while i work on my other projects for KRS, including a prototypical route closer to my area. Your route is coming along quite well, if you are enjoying creating it keep going with it, theres nothing wrong with that. The point i am trying to make is while no matter how great of a route you make in TRS it will always be held back by the limitations of the sim.
Very true, I am modeling Horseshoe Curve route for reasons other challenging Microsoft. Johnstown builds freight cars and Altoona builds engines. I really want to connect Johnstown to Altoona and the coal country in between. Yes, I live in Pensylvania and modeling my home turf is my true goal. As for the limitations of the software, I can relate to working hundreds of hours on a route and losing it to software malfunction. However, starting over I ended up with a better route. Practice does equal improvement. I too wish to have an improved verision of Trainz but the real limitation isn't the software but the hardware's ability to handle it. The minimum specs to run Trainz are much higher than what is on the box. I guess what I am trying to say is part of the challenge is working with what you got.
I appreciate your position relative to the challenge to build a prototyical route off turf. If you challenged me to build a Florida route I would have respectively declined for the same reasons.
