TANE gone from registered serial numbers (steam version)

TANE is not supported
What do you mean ?

Trainz: A New Era is still available on Steam and it is on sale with a 75% discount.

If it is not supported by Auran / N3V then why is it being sold then ?

next year it turns 10 years old and support will stop...... when a Product turns 10 years old IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY just like a vehicle or any product out there.....

@RetroRails12

As far as I know, Trainz: A New Era was released in the year 2015 and only in 2018 it bacame really playable. I mean, there were tonns of updates and service packs to make it playable. Only 5 years have passed since 2018.

The new game was officially released as a retail version for wide distribution on 15 May 2015, though it was rather bare bones, lacking many normal User Interface features such as Content Manager hotkeys, a working minimap and like UX multiplier factors.
SP3 was released on 11 July 2018 and included many bug fixes and improvements to AI, Multiplayer, stability, and performance.

You can buy up to Trainz 12 if you want on Steam... and each one will work with the corresponding Assets. I still do.
I still don't understand why you need a serial number...

No serial number is required to install T: ANE or any version above that. The software key is tracked on the N3V server and is issued to you when you login. With Steam, from what I remember, it will obtain your license key from N3V when you install that version.

From what you are describing, it sounds like you are not using your data folder and are using the built-in data instead. This can occur sometimes if there was a crash. When you restarted the program, T: ANE most likely asked you for your login information all over again, and as a result, all of your installed content is gone.

The way to recover from this is to use the Install tab located under Trainz settings on the launcher. You then browse to the proper data folder and select it. You will restart when asked and you should be good to go. After a crash like that, you must run a database repair. Located on the Launcher, click on the Developer menu item located on the top and choose Repair database.

You may want to verify your local files in Steam. That may in fact "reconnect" the data folder but I doubt it, therefore you'll have to do this manually.

Back in the day, my T:ANE DVD came with a serial number, but I think the online versions may get one assigned as John mentions.
@RetroRails12, according to my profile, I joined in July 2013, and I joined in after purchasing my T:ANE DVD, so celebrating (at least) 10 years of T:ANE this year!

Wikipedia is not a Trustful Site to get information from...... you got your information wrong on when it came out as well next year is the 10 year of it. Jointed Rail and RRmods have stopped producing content for TANE already or are in the process of doing so.. since you just joined the forums yesterday I would go back and reread alot of the posts in the TANE section of the Forums to see what i mean. I have been playing the Franchise since it came out in the early 2000's i still have a Hard copy of the original game in my collection... so tell me i am wrong again......... also putting something in bold is yelling at someone also.. you have been report McFly...

That's correct. We were able to purchase a CD-version of T: ANE back then and for those of us who were part of the Kickstarter, we got the Deluxe version with no online verification option. Today, it's all online.

Let it be so. Wikipedia is not good in your eyes. But why does Steam also say about the year 2015 ?

same place i got my TRS2004 from was CompUSA man that brings back memories
It sure does. I still have TRS2004 in the original box too. That purchase came and ended the work on my N-scale model railroad that my cats and nephews decided was a toybox. I was finding expensive trains on the coffee table that my nephews took upon themselves to bring downstairs to play with. I told my sister who was staying with us and she wouldn't do anything about it. It didn't help that one of the cats chewed all the wires and the other stole things as well. To make matters worse, I started with neurological issues which later proved to be something more serious and I was dropping things including expensive locomotives on to the floor. With the destruction of an expensive Kato/Atlas D&H Alco-RS3 as it hit the floor, that was even more of reason to give up and I closed a chapter on a book I can no longer afford to go back to.

While virtual railroading is fun and gives us a lot of advantages and enjoyment, it's still not the same as real model railroading. Today, I still think of Trainz routes as gigantic model railroads including my very large route I actually started in January 2004. That is a real-size version of the route I was building.

But anyway, there's been a lot of good memories too. I remember the first time I drove the route I built and I saw the signals change in front of me as the AI switched the tracks for its route. I've imported parts of my original route into my current iteration and with a lot of licks and big promises, this early iteration doesn't look too bad. I had to relay track and do a lot of retexturing and smoothing down hills but these sections merged in quite nicely.

And that would remain true even if it was posted in Wikipedia.
😉
I'm fortunate enough even with my own now messy health to still be able to do a bit of both.
Electronic trains and physical model trains are different experiences both physically and mentally, true, but, hey, they are both trains and they both move.

Since we're all different people and not a planet full of clones, it is good that Both experiences, Both methods, are now available. 👍

➡️ As for the thread's specific topic; I don't have a solution to offer. Do have 2 issues of TANE in this box of bits and bytes, one off CD from N3V and one electronically via Steam.
At this moment both are there and both will load.
There are so very many options and possibilities on what can happen and go right and what can happen and go wrong when billions of unseeable electrons interact with other sets of billions of unseeable electrons.
