T:ANE (in development) screenshots...

A C&O local passenger train makes a brief stop at the Art Deco passenger depot deep in the New River Gorge at Prince, W.Va., as the Piney Creek Shifter passes by on the track leading to the Piney Creek Branch.

Ha, success! Finally got Sherman Hill into T:ANE but still missing many locomotives and tons of rolling stocks.

:D

I ask Roy why nobody show panoramic view from high mountain only from track???
He said you have to ask the route builders probably they cannot because limit baseboard.
Nice screenshots they make too.

Hey Paul,

of course in the texture ;)
All the curves and edges including the screw and spring washers are bumped and the diffuse map is improved by a curvature map to provide better visibility from the distance and emulate flattened edges.
The mesh for LOD0 has about 275 polys while the mesh I used for rendering had about 9.573 polys

That's incredible! You mean you get that much elevation definition through the normal mapped texture? I find it interesting that this technique would provide that much improved performance. It's still necessary for even bump maps to be rendered with proper shading...

Hello,

that’s a very detailed piece of track - looks great!
Keep up your nice work and thanks for sharing.

Nice detail.
Whether one recognizes when driving with a locomotive?
You can also stop naturally, get out and zoom in closer.
The track itself however optically rather simple structure compared with the rail fastening;)

Yes, of course, but from a modeller's perspective it is extremely well done and rather beautiful for an ugly piece of railway furniture. But you know what i mean. :)

For Sachsenbahner. Thanks for the information. I'm working my way though a ShaderMap normal map tutorial at present and have just discovered curvature adjustments for selected objects on different layers of a normal map profile. It's probably going to take a while for the information to make sense to me. I'd rather like to use techniques such as this on cab objects.

Cheers
