Three questions, each of which has me stumped.

1. Objects Adjust height button. Moves objects in 1 meter jumps. Is there any way to get a more sensitive adjustment? Can it be set for an absolute value?

2. Topography Adjust height button. I use a Logitech MX100 optical mouse which works fine moving the cursor but will not consistently move topography. sometimes when I move mouse up or down it works, usually no effect.

3 Topography Plateau button. Is there any way to "dial in" a target height? If I want a plateau 10.2 meters above base board, must I eyeball it and adjust ad infinitum?

I would surely appreciate help from someone who has figured these out. Thanks

1. Hold down the CTRL key while adjusting object height, increments of 0.1 meter.
2. Change the setting on the sensitivity dial.
3. Use the "Use Height" button instead of plateau, type 10.2 into the window with the Use Height button selected, everywhere you click will be set to 10.2 meters. Assuming the route elevation is zero, of course, I originally set mine to the actual MSL elevation of Midway Airport, then found that screwed up the height tool so I reset the route to zero. :hehe:

Thanks Sniper 297

Unfortunately, sensitivity does not solve 2. It just makes the occasional occurences of action more sensitive. But 90+% of the time, nothing happens.

Yeah, keep forgetting that one since the CTRL key with rotation is 0.1 degrees, SHIFT rotation tool is apparently roll.

I think I know which one you're talking about, I've used the height up and height down, never tried the height adjust. I'm currently in the middle of a 3 hour AI traffic test, so I'll have to look at it later, but my guess off the cuff is it might be fussy about the angle and/or distance. Trying to move spline or track vertexes up and down when looking at them close up from ground level is impossible, this might be similar.

macclarke. I find 12 is a little sensitive on lower/raise height. It sometimes baulks when you are to close. The other advice definately works.(rweber/sniper).

He is using TS10 but you are right. This tool has been quirky since TS2009. Here is what I do:

Under the Main Menu button>Options>Surveyor Settings lower the compass speed down to 0. I like this setting anyway for moving around a baseboard using the right mouse button. Now lower the sensitivity setting and try the tool. Mouse movement is only forward and backwards. Side to side has no effect. Remember on a 10m grid you should place the cursor on the intersections of the darker grid lines. A 5m grid allows use of the smaller lighter grid intersections for control points.

2. I've found that you can do it by a very quick light tap on the mouse button, takes a bit of practice though.
3. Use the height button which you can set, not the plateaux for raising the height or large areas. Plateaux button I use for smoothing, rounding off or carving out, levelling small bumps and raising lowering by dragging from the height you want to raise or lower to, in effect fine tuning. Personally I think it has a misleading name.
