Open the environment tab (top right I think) and change the time.
I'll double check and come back.
Cobblers, open the main menu and select edit environment, twiddle the dial to suit.

Hi Fran,Strangely my Trainz 2010 does not have the tab of environment,Have noticed this the first time i loaded my game.Been to the options and seen nothing.

I think you might need to be in the Surveyor>World flyout where you can swing the clock around to alter the time of day.

One little tip. When you change the time make sure you make another addition or change to an object. it can be as small as deleting and re-adding something, or just rotating it by a tiny amount.

If you don't do this, the setting in Surveyor after a save, or Quickdrive, will return to the earlier setting.

I had the same problem which confused me for a while, until I discovered this workaround.

In TS2010 it's in surveyor, but on the top right-hand corner it's under main-menu. Then 'Edit Environment'

Thanks for the correction Jamie.

My apologies if my post caused confusion. I hadn't noted the version.

I'll leave it as is. It might help someone with an earlier version.

Out of interest, does the need for a small change to an asset still apply in TS2010?

Almost got it, Jamie, but not completely: the "Main menu" button is at the top-left of the screen. :p

Casper: I'll hop into Trainz right quick and check that out, and post back the result.

EDIT: Surveyor shows the "Do you want to save changes..." dialog even when I only open the edit environment dialog. Changed the time to a darker time, and the save dialog's options only involved the session. Alas, it was daylight when I re-opened the route/session.

TS2010 does have the "Session Date" feature, which allows you to set what month, day, and year the session (?) is set in. I tried changing the date on the Session Date calendar then changing it back, and changes to the time are then retained. Surveyor also saves the route as well as the session when this is done.

So I guess that the need to change something before the time will be saved still exists in TS2010, but there is/are other way(s) to go about making such a change (such as changing the session date then changing it back like I described above) that do not affect the objects, etc., on your route. :)

Regards,

Retro.

This might help;

Upper left corner, Main menu, edit environment. Don't have to change anything, just click the green dot at the bottom of the dial to reset the time to high noon;

Then click the X to close it. Don't need to save anything since that doesn't make any changes to the route.
