Surveyor Paint Tab?????

Now don't some of you all go and get all out of sorts with me over this posting.

I have send 4 emails to Auran "Help Desk" and posted on the open discussion form, about this.

All the previuos postings were made before Auran run into the problem that took them off line.

But I have since send only 1 email to the HelpDesk now that the are back up and running.

I even got replys that stated "Do you think everyone should use only English"

One person even told me "all issues of Trains are sent out as international"

I purchased TRS2006 on line from Auran on a DVD when it first came out. I never installed it until SP1 was put out.

Just today I run through Surveyor Paint Tap and counted 359 items in German
language, this is out of 696 items. Wouldn't you think buying a product that was to go to the United States there would be more English named items.

Also I counted 15 items that each were very different and the only differents was in the first letter of the name, ect."Gras 41--gras 41 also found 3 items listed as "gras 6" and all 3 were very different items. Check it out.

Do you maybe think I was sent a DVD that was suppose to have been for another country?

When programs are sent out, is there a way to tell as to what country they are made for?

Sure would like to hear from Auran about this.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, if you got this far. Would like to hear from some of you old trainers.

Max

I don't think you got hold of a copy intended for another country, but I could be wrong. This is truely an international game and you're going to find a lot of content for other countries and in other lanquages. I'm sure that some of our foreign friends think that there's too much English language and US content. Impossible to please everyone.

...O.K...try this...

 You need a Free Language Translation program.

This is very useful in interpretation, and helping to understand other languages.

You have to be careful, whilst using this to post to other languages, because of the different way people interpret words.

When using TrainzObjects, or CMP you can find the text in your language, and change the title, etc, to whatever suits you.

It is irritating that so many things are listed under foreign names just as I guess it must be for anyone who doesn"t speak English to see everything listed in English. But you"d think that with the compting power availble now it would be possible to have a "translated" name in several major languages assigned to each Kuid number.:)

...maybe...someday...

 There are at least 240 major languages, not counting dialects of languages in each country.

The Language Translation Program, I gave in the previous post, can only do short paragraphs of text. Just right for the job asked for.

We have to realize, that not all the titles you wish to translate, have English equivalent words!

That's why I gave a clue to how to use the translation page, using Trainz Utilities. We have to interpret the title, then use a name we can remember, to replace the title.

Trainz Railroad Simulator, is a Global entity. Understanding that no language is superior, and that the effort is to share our knowledge, can help us to transcend our differences, because we all may not share our particular interests, but the hobby of railfanning, is the same in all languages!

Finding, and sharing solutions to problems like these, brings the total experience closer to all of us.

Hi Max,

Thanks for taking the time to raise this issue. You have recieved the correct language version of TRS2006. With such a huge international following, we are very grateful and pleased with so many awesome contributions from various people. True, not all of these people speak English as a first language. As such some of the brilliant asseta in CMP may not have their description in English.

Yes the above all makes a lot of sense. I find one of the more irksome aspects is the proliferation of items in the wrong categories.
When searching for "buildings" it is annoying to find Locos and Rolling Stock etc.
I realise the enormity of editing and controlling this indexing chaos but it would help surely if contributors to the download station made sure of the correct category before uploading.
This is an old gripe but anyway it has been said once again.
