SURVEY TIME! No locomotive left behind

I would Like to see some CSX F7 in all csx paint schemes they carried and CSX SD38 2461 YN2 (x-CR/6942) SD38 .
2463 YN2 (x-CR/6948) SD38 . CSX SD40 4617 YN3 .and some CSX SD50. http://www.bullsheet.com/news/roster-numeric.html also some L&N Stuff and the CSX SD80MAC in YN3B and X-CSX patched for NS SD80MAC>> I would like to see All Currant CSX Models In the YN3B (Boxcar Logo) Paint And the CSX Older GE & EMD in there former CSX Paint Schemes or Merger Paint Jobs http://trainweb.org/csxphotos/schemes_csx.htm
I'm quite surprised no one hasn't requested yet ALL of the M&StL RS-1 schemes... :D

I'll think about it. It was hard enough finding enough pictures to do script. FWIW, they weren't delivered in that scheme, or at least not all of them were.

I found a ''Roman lettering stencil'' for an SW8 dated of January 5, 1955. If you think it might help, send me a PM with your email and I will send it to you. Big letter are 10'' and big numbers are 12''.
Thanks

A rather simple project I would think.

No, not the BNSF painted locomotive, but rather the BNSF patched ex-GATX locomotive.

GP's are RRMods specialty generally speaking. Not that I'm not sure JR would do a wonderful job with them, but I'd rather they stick with the larger Road Engines while RRMods churns out the smaller ones. If you have 2 groups working, its better to avoid repeating content. Repeating Content also lowers their sales which does nobody any good.

There is nothing that says that 2 different payware creators can't make the same model and release them. JR has made and released many GeePs in the past and has already stated that they are rebuilding or are going to rebuild their older GeePs plus they have mentioned about a couple other new ones they are working on. That don't include what hasn't been mentioned yet by the different members. Like Justin has said, he can't see having those old models available for download when they don't meet their current quality standards. Just because JR don't have much in the way of GeePs available right now doesn't mean they are not making them or are going to make them.

But in an industry such as this, its not wise to make the exact same content as your direct competitor. I mean look at what RRmods did they found a niche market and ran with it. They decided to differentiate themselves and provide products not yet available anywhere else. I think it was a great move on their part.

The Virtual model railroading industry. Need I say more.
There fixed that for you. But I mean really think about all the work you guys put into your models. Would you really want to take all the time to make a model that already exist and not have it pay off because people choose the competitors item over yours? You could of put the same amount and time into a model that didn't exist, there by forcing customers to come exclusively to you to get that item.

I think what he was referring to is the "MODEL RAILROAD INDUSTRY". You know. HO scale, O scale, N scale... Look at all the different model train makers. Do all of them have the same quality? Do all of them have the same options? Do all of them have the same level of detail? No they don't. Does model maker "A" not make an SW1500 because model maker "B" already did? Doesn't work that way. So why should JR not make something because RRMods did or or the other way around. The Virtual Railroading Industry, (if you want to call it that) is no different than the Model Railroad Industry. If you think one or the other shouldn't make something that the other already made then don't buy it.

They are two different industries. JR's and RRmods are the only "companies" that make content for Trainz. Neither has nearly the man power that companies like Walters, Athearn, or Atlas does. They can pump out new products in a few months and take advantage of economics of scale. They can make the same products because of that. It takes JR and RRmods several months to over a year to make a new piece of content. With them being the only two in Trainz, don't you think it would get pretty redundant if they both kept making the same items, with little differentiation between them? I just look at this from a business perspective because that's what it has turned into (and because business is my major). I'm simply suggesting that both parties look at their strengths, use them, and don't make competitors when they don't need to.

What if we feel our strengths include geeps?

most components between a gp40-2 and sd40-2 are standardized. If it takes as long as you claim to make a new model, why not maximize productivity by using the same part twice? I do not follow your argument.

Just because two parties produce two great models, doesn't mean people can't have both. Also, competition makes for great products. If one company doesn't have any reason to improve a model then they won't, but if two companies make the same model, they must continually improve and innovate to stay ahead.

Amen, I completely agree with this entire post.

You also have to remember that as a content creator you can make whatever whether it be what everyone wants or weather the creator just felt like making that particular model, regardless of it being freeware or payware. You also have the case of RRmod's making a particular locomotive and only a few railroads and JR can always make the same locomotive and do other railroads on their model. This being quite relevant with me and my GP7 model. Yes Wearsprada has finished and released his model , which I love and will continue to use and enjoy. Although with how far I have gotten my project I wish to complete it and do what ever railroads I choose mainly ones he has not done or may never do just because I myself want to for the fun of it.

Well at the risk of this turning into a flame war, I will just drop the topic. I'm not very good with words at times and I may not be able to express my ideas well. I also don't fully understand JR's business strategy. So I will just let it go and wish both companies luck and happy "Trainzing" to all.

Hate to burst some bubbles here, but the thing I am looking forward to the most is our brand new line of GP's. New. From the ground up.
