I've been buying Classic Trains for a bit, I must have missed that issue.
However, the April/May/June 2010 issue of The Railroad Press has a story titled "Classic Marias Pass" and right on the front cover is BN F units 818, 2 F7Bs, and another A unit in helper service pushing hard against the rear of a train.
That issue also has SLSF F units in Orange and red, and the older Black and yellow.
Anyways, A while back, I had figured out a way to port all of the content from Trainz Driver Edition over to TRS 2006, and consequently was able to move it into Trainz Classic. So I have the older version of the whole Marias Pass route as done by HP Trains.
NOTE: There is an updated version of the entire route for TRS 09/10 for sale on their website.
So I looked at the route, its quite detailed, and wondered what could be done to spruce it up a bit for operating. I wanted to substitute some freeware locomotives and cars for the built in content that was used and set up some more operating sessions.
The thought struck me like a bolt of lightning: The one locomotive that was really needed for it had not been done.
2 hours later, there are now 2 BN F's that exist. Plans are for another F7 and a F3 to join the fray (Yep, BN ran F3 thru F9s well into the 80's), along with 4 F7Bs.
That way you can use them on helper service, general merchandisers, Etc....
The other Locomotive in that pic is the freeware TRS2004 BN GP-35 from RRmods.com. I was using them in TRS 06/Classic. I have was able to get them to work Error Free in TRS 09/10, I am waiting on a Reply for the owner of the content to give me permission to publish my results on how to get them to work.
So, bottom line; Yes, these are mine, I am almost finished with them. When done, you will be able to download them from my site.
I am thinking about starting another thread about modding the Marias Pass approach / Maria Pass route for using Freeware Locos / cars and setting up operating sessions. I wonder If I can modify a 40 Foot Boxcars Lars settings for it to accept grain as a product? F units and 40 footers hauling grain? 80's bliss right there.......
EDIT: I may even do one F in the Mineral brown MOW paint scheme. Why? The BN used F units as power cars for its rotary snow plows. This was done by re routing the electricity that powered the units traction motors to the snowplow that had its boiler removed and had traction motors substituted to turn the plows blades. When business picked up, the F units traction motors were re connected, and into freight service it went, without a repaint.
EDIT 2: Pic of MOW F unit in freight service:
