Elevated RR for my Streetcar-City-Project

Hallo,

now its been done, my City got an elevated RR. I would love to operate Majcland’s R17 and R36 Subway Cars at it, but unfortunately it does not work in TS2010. Besides some trouble about several passenger attachment points, which I could fix, there is something wrong with the “poles.texture.txt”. It could not been imported by CMP and I could not fix it. Such errors does not matter in TRS2006 and TC, but TS2010 does not accept such problems anymore.

Just see some screens of the elevated RR and the whole City Project in its latest state.

Note: The Train does not fit under the Highway Bridge – I fixed that problem right after I captured the screens J

Tume, that is amazing. Exceptional job. Are those elevated tracks made by you? And if so, are they released now, or do they come with that awesome route you're building?

Elevated RR for my Streetcar-City-Project

Hallo,

@rick4444:
the tracks and bridges have been created by myself as well as a lot of buildings. It will be released all in a package within the route and the PCC-Streetcars.

@all:
For the time being, just see some more screens below:

Hallo,

here comes some more screens of the elevated RR, which I just introduced into my Streetcar-City-Project.
If you have a look at the screens at the two latest replies in this thread, you may see, that the elevated RR creates a big circle through the City.

Hey Tume,

great shotz as always; however I would recommend some details for more realism.

For instance
you could put more life on the streets (more traffic and people)

- then you should apply more fences and walls to separate things better: I mean while driving on board of the subway car you can fast recognize that you are situated in a simulation. But you could avoid this effect by hiding views with walls and fences and thus, as side effect, it is more realistic.

And I recommend to clad dmdrake's 2D buidlings with doors or shopfronts (as I do on my map:p ). Some of them have excellent textures but ground floors thwart the employability.

kind regards,

Jean-Paul

Awesome!

Awesome shots TUME!

I was having similar problems with some of Magicland's Subway cars in TS2010. You should PM Robin_Hoods---he knows how to fix the subway cars to make them work in TS2010. I had the same poles problem with the R32,33,46 & 62, and he fixed them for me.

I am drawing up plans for my own city as well---yours is an inspiration! :D

P.S. If you need custom destination signs for your layout (for the Magicland Subway cars on your Elevated RR), let me know and I will make a special batch for you!

Municipal Surface Railway

Hallo @all,

again some screens onto my PCC Streetcar and Route project. I now call it Municipal Surface Railway.
I created the PCC Streetcars just following the dimensions from the PCC’s serving at the F Line in San Francisco. But for now I only made PCC’s ready wearing a non real paint scheme. A fleet of San Francisco’s PCC’s – individually in mesh and texture – will be completed in the near future.
The route “Municipal Surface Railway” provides a big urban and suburban “Playground” for the PCC’s. It contains two circular tram lines serving the dense commercial and the dense residential areas around downtown and five branch lines reaches from these circles into the suburban areas.
The main stretch – going from downtown westward – bases loosely onto the Marketstreet in San Francisco.

In addition to the tram lines, the City is served by a circular double track elevated Railroad, known from New York and Chicago connecting downtown with the residential areas in the west and the north west, with the Airport and eventually with the industrial areas in the south west.

Just see some screens of it:

Thank you both of you for your nice words.
I should mention that the route has about 140 baseboards and nearly 1900 dependencies. I created a lot new city buildings, but in 2d to support a nice performance. In my point of view this only affects the fire stairs outside the residential buildings which could be created as 3d, but this would have pushed up the numbers of polygons very hard. Such a stair would have much much more polys than a whole house.
Anyway, due to the dencity of objects TS2010 cuts the view distance back to about 2000 metres, which is not to bad for such a City. At first it was lower than this. But I could get the view distance up to 2000 metres by changing the food-path-splines into LOD splines. Now the food-pathes disappears in a distance of 800 metres, which is far enougth.
