Straw Poll - Use Of Murchison 2 Assets In A Freeware (DLS) Route

Vern

Trainz Maverick
As the title suggests, I just wanted to get a feel for the above. A couple of projects I'm working on at present are looking as though assets from the above route would suit my needs better than anything built in or on the DLS. However I am acutely aware that if the project(s) ever go live, anyone wishing to drive or use the route(s) will need to own the payware to reference the assets. This is normally more of a dilemna for the "other" sim, where it may be necessary to reference several payware DLC to get all the assets you want, but the first time I've had to contemplate it for a Trainz route.

If it was a multiplayer route, you would not be able to include anything that is not built-in or from the Download Station (as you probably know).

For single player routes, as long as you make it clear I cannot see a problem with referencing the assets, although if in doubt, ask sirgibby first.

I would think quite a large proportion of the longer term users would have picked up Murchison at some point or other, and as long as it is made clear I can't see it being a problem.

If it's cliff splines in particular you are needing to use, there are some other options on the DLS. Indeed some of sirgibby splines are available as freeware.

It was the river splines in particular, plus some of the structures, which are of interest. Unfortunately not many of the former are on the DLS. As regards permissions I don't think that was ever an issue as one of the purposes of the route was as an asset pack, it's more how much acceptance there is to needing a payware route to run freeware.

So long as you make it clear in the description that the Murchison 2 pack (I'm guessing you mean the DLC pack, that uses a serial number) is required, there shouldn't be any issue.

Since the content installs as 'built-in' content, it should also be able to be used in multiplayer.
