Stella Street WIP

Socialist Serenade
I haven't had time to work on this for the past week or so, but I plan to get back to it very soon.

This is Stella Street, the first of several streets I intend to release:

Here's a more recent pic [added drainpipe and different colour gutter/pipe for each house]:

Back gardens included:

Objects are snappable, for ease of use:

When snapped together...

....standard Trainz roads can be positioned between the paths:

There's even an open Garage Door so you can park a car in there:

I'll also be creating junctions, sidewalks, etc, to compliment the set of streets, allowing complex suburban areas to be created.

Still a little bit of work to do on them, and spare time is fluctuating right now, so who knows when.
Night mode is next to do, so I'll post a screenie when I've done that.

Very nice indeed. Can they be height adjusted for those of us who prefer to paint our roads straight on the baseboard?

Now if we could only get splines to light up at night, these houses would look even better, you could even attach lamp posts to the pavements which will also light up at night.

This is just a thought of wishful thinking, by the way,

The tiles look OK to me, they are the big size ones, and when they fall they hurt, great work on the houses, I do like these and they are very well made, keep up the great work.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Paul, the kerb sits right on the ground, so if you want to paint your road texture onto the baseboard then you can do so at its default height.

As for the tiles, they are scaled to a particular tile used in the UK in some areas, and even though they are bigger than you'd see a lot of the time, they are prototypical.
In fact, a lot of the early time on this model was spent on scale (width and height of windows and doors, height of window off the floor, height of second floor windows, height of roof overhang, etc) because I found some models lacked this real-life scale, and look odd when people were placed next to them.

Joe, this isn't a spline, it's a scenery item, and it will have a night mode.
I love a good night mode. :)

I may yet add lampposts to the model, so they'll benefit from some nice lighting.

NIARTcar, the frame rate is fine so far.
I've filled a whole baseboard with them, and had no problems, and that's without any LOD levels.
The finished asset will probably have at least 2 LOD levels, so performance shouldn't be a problem.

No worries - I have similar tiles on my house, but smaller. I appreciate the effort to get everything to scale - I'm forever downloading buildings only to find that the doors are too low to get through, or the bricks are the size of breezeblocks... :o Hopefully I haven't screwed up too many of my own - though I have issued updates of some for just this reason.

Really nice

Hi,
Reakky nice assets, I like the idea of a snapable (snappable?) format, gives you flexibility.

Bless you,

Angela
