Oh I got an open mind, most of the developers are old friends from the early years of MSTS and I'm actively doing what I can to help them with testing. I'm not saying don't place your bets, it very well MAY be the ultimate trainsim we've all been looking for - but that's in the distant future, it ain't there yet.
Original topic is "stay with Trainz", others are staying with MSTS, why not Railworks?

That was a year ago, and nothing has changed - the developers and footy fans still dismiss everyone else as a bunch of neanderthal luddites who stay with the old trainsims cuz we're too stupid and lazy to learn anything new. Despite the large number like you and I who tried RS/RW and really gave it an honest chance (2 1/2 YEARS worth!), they still think that and hysterically insist it doesn't have any major flaws in the AI traffic coding.
Another one;

I understand what the guy is trying to do, got a lead engine and a helper on your train, uncouple the engines and drive either one independently. You COULD do that with the original railsim, but it wasn't perfect because sometimes engine 1 would refuse to couple back to engine 2, so you had to change to engine 2 and couple that to engine 1, or one of them would derail.

So they "fixed" it in patch mark 1 by disabling it completely, now if you couple service 2 to service 1, service 1 is no longer a service and can't be driven independently for the rest of the scenario. TS2010 does that just fine, uncouple the helper and drop it on a siding, use both engines to switch cars from both ends of the train.
Trainz might or might not be the future (fix them ugly switches!) but my opinion Trainz is the present. Railworks simply has too many flaws and limitations to even be classed as a train simulator. Trainz ain't perfect, I was running a session yesterday with AI trains entering a double ended yard to drop off cars on track 8 at 15 minute intervals, first and second did fine, third AI found one switch in the yard ladder set the wrong way and stopped, couldn't figure out how to throw one switch to get into his destination track. For now tho, Trainz is the best available.
