Start Trainz, all I get is a gray screen and music

I am running TRS19 on a mac all up to date. I am building a route and at the end of the day I save it to my desktop as a cdp. I made a 5 day trip to a friends place. When starting TRS19 again when I came back. Everything starts from the launcher, but the Start Trainz, all I get is a gray screen and music. I tried everything I can think of. Any ideas? With my Mac install I sometimes get an all black screen upon startup. Usually when this happens I see that I have left another app open.. Quitting that app usually solves the problem. Sometimes I have to restart the Mac. I don't understand what is happening because in all cases there is always plenty of RAM available... I've never had the issue on my Windows install. Sorry, not much help. If it persists try starting up in Mac "Safe Mode" by holding Shift key at startup. This prevents all your extra's helpers and such from loading.

In my case it's happening in older OS versions (pre 10.14.4) for example 10.13.6 - and it's not consistent at all. 95% of the time all is fine.
