Spammer, Mods please kill it with fire......

I can see quite a few users doing that.

Strangely enough, it always seems to be Nigerian users.

EDIT: Here's an idea for the forum administration - is it worth moderating the first few messages of new users from potentially problematic countries?

There were another couple as well earlier disguised as replies, not sure if they are still there. Look harmless until you spot the blatent advert link, the poster joined today does not have a registered copy of Trainz and the contents of both posts are identical to one made and removed a couple of weeks ago under a different name.

Found them

http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showpost.php?p=894847&postcount=24
http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showpost.php?p=893333&postcount=2

I'm guessing understandably that there isn't much moderating getting done when they are asleep down under and our daytime mod is probably at work.

I have also sent a request to the Mods !
A good reason to be leery of unregistered posters !

Add me to the list of those who reported to the Mods.

It would be great if N3V would create a new forum page for unregistered users.
That would be the only available place for unregistered users could post.

That way legitimate questions could be entered and spammers have no where else to go.

But then, Admin would need to do it, and they still have not fixed the "fooly" thing as being the new user..... Since August.

Have fun,

I suspect it works similar here, over at trainsim when someone posts a public message about spammers the moderators might or might not see it sooner or later. Click the alert button to report the post, however, and an email goes out to all moderators and admins.

Upper right corner, the triangle with the exclamation mark, that's the fastest surest way to get the message to the people who can actually do something about it.

I love seeing humorous Spam in my Spam Box, ie: Iroida Huber-Why I am writing to you

There is no one in the world named: "Iroida" lol !:hehe:

Of course I never open it !

The only one I can think of that is even close is a potato: Ore-Ida!!

As far as spam goes, I always extract the IP address and look it up on Whois.com, then I send the ISP en email with the spam header inline. I've even gotten back a few 'thank-you' emails.

Seems to be a common eastern European name. Here is one example from Google.

Iroida Wynnyckyj, ukrainian
Canadian Research and Documentation Center; “negation, separation, Marginalization: Repressions and the War in the Biographical narrations
of the Oldest Generation of Poles from Zhytomyr, Kyiv and Podillia Regions,”

It appears that the threads in question have been removed by a moderator.

It's important to see how good a job the moderators on this forum do, especially as there is only a handful (may be as low as two or three) of them.
