SP5 Issue

Posting this separately, as it kind of got lost in the original release thread. After installing SP5 I am seeing the issue below. Apparently some -1 assets have been replaced by -25 assets. Is no one else getting this? Anyway, I am wondering if I need to hand edit all these assets or if there will be some other kind of way to fix this?

"The -1 assets are from version 1.3. The -25 versions are from later Trainz builds. The older versions do not know about the newer versions."

It looks like I am running into a number of these. They say they are missing dependencies, but when you list dependencies, none show as missing, BUT they do show -25 assets. So, will the database figure this out eventually, or is there some steps I need to take? I hate to think I need to hand edit all of these. They are causing dependent assets and sessions to be missing deps:

I have seen the same. I have (so far) only been looking at textures and a number of my favourite older textures have been updated (with -25 kuids instead of -1) to PBR textures. This has created some problems with the result that I have decided to remove all textures from my current project so it is back to bare baseboards and start retexturing with PBR textures instead. This is something that I knew would come eventually. But I must admit, that I am impressed with the result - but I still have a lot of painting to go.

As to the older versions not knowing about the newer versions, that is normal. The update information, in the form of an obsolete-kuid table, is stored in the new version where the older version to be replaced is identified. But none of the texture assets affected are showing dependency (or dependant) issues.

As to your list of assets with missing dependencies, I do not have any of those, but am currently downloading a few to see what, if anything, is happening.

This looks like the obsolete cab issue once again. I had this issue when uploading sessions for the Illawarra route. From page 5 of the Illawarra announcement page:
A solution of sorts. The new F7 style cab obsoletes a few older cabs but missed one on the obsolete table. <kuid:-1:101472> Gen DL500. I downloaded this version into my SP4 beta install which also has the missing asset problem with the 42 and 44 class. Once this asset was installed the problem corrected itself and no more spurious missing assets.
I have now deleted the obsolete cab in TRS22 and the new one works well.
cheers

The 'List Asset Versions' command is crippled in the latest builds of Trainz.
Example:
For <kuid:-25:1405> General Goods the only version listed is <kuid:-25:1405> General Goods. The obsolete-table of the asset shows the following older versions of the asset:
Code:
obsolete-table
{
  0 <kuid:-3:10013>
  1 <kuid:-25:1149>
  2 <kuid:-25:1175>
  3 <kuid:-25:1177>
  4 <kuid:-25:1178>
  5 <kuid:-25:1181>
  6 <kuid:-25:1187>
}
Some assets even don't list all previous versons in the obsolete-table.

First one I checked shows it is part of the TANE Additional Assets pack.
2nd one shows as part of 822 which is a Trainz Plus / TRS22 route.
No missing items shown in a Trainz Plus build.

We're working on a solution to avoid this sort of thing happening in the future. Basically Trainz plus is the latest version and trying to run Trainz Plus or TRS22 stuff in TRS19 isn't supported. The problem was that Trainz Plus was once a TRS19 build and is now a TRS22 build.
In the future the likely outcome is that Trainz Plus will not share any build numbers with non-Trainz Plus versions, so keeping the latest TP build installed is all you need to worry about.
(It is the case today, but complicated by the different names).

I'll investigate but I know negative KUID support is messy.

pware, are you running this in TRS19 or TRS22?

have you installed the "Additional TANE Assets for TRS19" as part of your TRS22 (or TRS19) setup ?

Which asset refuses to download?

When it was made available I setup my TRS22 as a new separate install, and downloaded that route, session, and all dependencies, without the issues you are reporting.

.

Does that mean if I upload an asset from Trainz+ it will not load into the latest standard (non plus) build number?

That is the step I forgot to do after the SP5 patch. The one asset that refused to install was <kuid2:130855:60000:1> Kang1. All fixed now, everything has been installed and no missing assets.

As to which version I am running? Good question.

I started originally with TRS19 Platinum Edition. Then I opted for the Trainz Plus monthly subscription and my TRS19 PE was "magically" transformed into Trainz Plus without any further downloads. Last December I changed to the annual subscription and was able to download and install TRS22 Early Access which has a separate install from Trainz Plus but has the same launcher window graphic showing Trainz+ and both have Trainz Railroad Simulator 22 Launcher on the top bar. Both shortcuts link to different copies of TRS22.exe in different program folders. So I don't know. Both versions have the same build 116492.

The only way I can tell (I think) is that the one that should be Trainz Plus I have set to default to Surveyor 1.0 on loading Surveyor while the version I believe is TRS22 I have defaulted to Surveyor 2.0 on loading.

If I may add, you seem to have the same issue in WeddinNSW in SP5 that I have in my current project. Track and roads being partially overlapped by the textures even though the track (and road) is above ground height. Some of my favourite textures had, surreptitiously, been upgraded to PBR textures. My solution has been to strip all the non-PBR textures from the route entirely leaving just the bare baseboards (with all the assets) and start repainting with nothing but PBR textures. I have also updated my track to PBR Procedural. I knew that someday this would happen but today seems to be the day. I am impressed, however, with how much better the PBR textures look than the originals.

Thanks for the great route and demo.

Peter

So this thread seems to be going OT from my OP. It sounds like I am going to have to manually find the newer assets and hand edit all of the assets I am having trouble with. I don't really understand why N3V even has negative numbers in the assets, but that is a side point, I guess. Either hours of work or just delete the assets and their dependents as a dead loss.

That issue first manifested with SP3, and I thought I had corrected it with an update to the route <kuid2:56603:100832:2>. Is that the version you have installed?

That is the version I have - <kuid2:56603:100832:2> WeddinNSW: South lines to the Lachlan.

I first noticed the problem in my current project after the SP5 update - post with screenshots at https://forums.auran.com/trainz/sho...19-SP5-Official-Release&p=1915464#post1915464. I put in a bug report with screenshots and a sample test route and was informed that it was an issue that they were looking at but that my test route had possibly identified another issue. Knowing how long these things can take to resolve (I am not complaining) and that it would possibly need another SP or a HotFix to fix, I decided that the best immediate course of action was to replace all the non-PBR textures.

EDIT: Just reloaded your route and the texture problem is no longer evident - go figure!

OK. Thats odd, because I am not seeing the issue in my SP5, or TRS22. The screenshot you provided looks very similiar to one I proved here, after I installed SP3. https://forums.auran.com/trainz/sho...ra-branch-lines-on-DLS/page9&highlight=weddin

Resolved - see edit to my previous post.

Thats good! Is it any wonder new users complain about the learning curve for Trainz, when 'experienced' users have such issues.

I seem to recall that NV3 have taken the PBR conversion of existing textures on as an issue, and will release future updates with a new KUID.

Wot??? And spoil all the fun and cultural exchanges?

Responses to your "generic" title has solved a problem for me (and possibly others) so all is good. Besides going "off topic" is one of the major joys of these forums.

Thanks for filling me in on expected behavior, I'll see if I can start hijacking requests for info, just for fun.
