Southern California's Cajon Subdivision

-You're welcome.

-Yes it is.
-Remember it is an unfinished route. You can run trains end to end but little to no scenery. This is for the route builders, to get a head start I guess, to pick up where I left off.

Hello Joe,

I downloaded all the Packs, went OK......

Only thing is, I have a ton of these Kuid's missing? I just put a just a small portion of these down ( there is about 900 of them missing Assets) for you to Glance over if possible.......

Would like to know if these are Payware, any information you could provide.....:)

And if nothing on these, that's OK.......I understand the Route is incomplete, and I can go add whatever is needed, no problem.......It is a terrific Route, and I really like Dem Routes...........

I didn't expect this route to be released despite its WIP status and it just really made my night! Thank you very much!
-Well it hasn't been a WIP for a long time, hence why I decided to let it go, in hopes that one day it would be finished by someone or some team but you're welcome lol!

-These are the UTM tiles that I just repacked. The 11.8GB file at my site: https://socaltrains.weebly.com/routes.html -These are all underground to help with placement of all objects. Technically not needed but very helpful for being accurate in creating the route.

Should the UTM Layers be merged into the main Route Layer on this Route?

Thank you Joe,

I need to read up a bit on UTM's heard of them and I know they are used for Dem Routes, just one other question? Looking at the Layers in this Route, I see the UTM's are shown as separate layers, should I merge them into the Route Layer, or is it better to keep them separate as they are now? Appreciate your opinion on that?

Thanks for the help. This one Grand Route, and it really nice to look at the Ground and see how the Mapping is done, Street names and everything else.....Really nice Construct in how it all comes together.

-NP on the help! I'd definitely keep them on their own layer. You wont need them in the end. Say if you were building the route, putting down all the assets utm tile by tile, you can delete the tiles as you go if you wanted but I'd keep them there till the end or I was satisfied with what was completed. I wouldn't release the finished route with the tiles attached! Mojave Sub was built in a similar matter, mile by mile of laying down all the necessary assets and textures. Hope this helps!
-I'm not quite sure what you're asking here... like the .psd to the Cargill asset? If so, I don't have it and wouldn't be mine to give if I did.

Perfect Joe,

You are a good instructor, what you said makes perfect sense.........;)

One can tell, their is a ton of Detail in this Dem Route, and what I like, is the parts of small Spur lines laid in off the mains, so say I wan to lay in some of them with connecting Tracks, it is simple paint by the numbers as you lay lower weight Rail connections......

Have to say, you can see how much work it took to get it where it is now...........What an accomplishment to be proud of.......

-Thank you. Ya I remember it being a lot of work just to lay all that track. Probably thousands of rulers used lol!

-Well thanks for your kind words!

Just a question, other then the Mojave Sub, do I need any other DLC or non DLS items? I downloaded all the CDPs from the site

Has anyone else had issues installing UTM cdp files? I was able to get UTM 1.cdp to install successfully from the content manager, but files 2 through 5 generate an "unable to open for reading". I would suspect that if the .rar archive was corrupted, I would not be able to export out the cpd files, let alone fully install the first file. I suspect it has something to do with the cdp file size, as the first file is under 2 gigs, and the rest are over 2 gigs. Also, none of the files are flagged as read only. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Trainz 2019 build 114800

I downloaded the big utm file map and won’t open any of the files but I think 2 out of the 5 packed in the zip file if that makes sense using trainz 22

Joe,

I downloaded the route from your site. I skipped the 11GB UTM download. (Sorry, that must have been a lot of work to generate all those UTMs!)

The track work is amazing. (More on the gradients later.) I've copied track with OSM/JOSM and Transdem ending up with a lot of track. But I've never done all of the research and labeling with track markers like you did. Awesome work.

About the gradients ... after looking around the route I tried to re-create the Duffy St derailment. Silly me.
I setup six SD45s and 70 100 ton hoppers loaded with coal. Started from Summit and set it to run 0 after hitting 20 mph. The trains blasted past Duffy St at 150 to 160 mph _and_they_didn't_derail_! Your track is so smooth, the train was glued to the rails even with everything set to realistic. The Duffy St curve is supposed to be a 35mph curve. No matter, the trains went through every time.

After that I tried coming down the grade with dynamic brakes. Every time I let it get to 37-40mph, the dynamics started losing the battle. An application of train brakes got me down below 35. Minutes later, I'd be over 40 again. I'd give myself a D score on such a poor showing.

I still can't believe how much track you've put in. West Colton, Barstow, Yermo ... so much work. A huge amount of work to do all that track so smoothly. And all of the track markers helping people like me to know what the tracks are used for.

When I first looked at Barstow, only the mainlines around the yard were visible. But when I zoomed out, all of the turnout arrows appeared and I could tell that you did build the Barstow yard. All of the yard track is invisible to me. What track asset is supposed to be there?

Thanks for sharing the route. Really fine work.

Anyone working on continuing this route? I downloaded it and looked around. Looks really interesting.
