South Australian railway content

Here's some shots from the Willunga route, it should be completed in a few months, Even though this is local for me, so many changes have taken place in the 70 years since closure, its been hell trying to work out how it looked back in the 1950s !

Looks amazing! I never really knew that Morphett Vale had a railway station, I knew that Noarlunga had a previous railway station though.

Yeah it was one of the bigger ones with a yard as there was quite a bit of traffic from the winery and also sheep consignments. Morphett Vale was totally in the country at that time, whole area looked pretty much like Mclaren Vale does now. I''ll post some pics of Noarlunga and the other stations once they are completed.

If it is a red then the older the better!
I've no idea what variety they are, although I do like a drop of the local chapel hill Shiraz " the parson" , which fortunately doesn't need many years to taste rather good and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

These assets are, I think, v2.0 I'm just glad ( and lucky) they aren't semi transparent which is how many of these early vegetation items are presenting in game.

The vines are a perfect example of being forced to use payware, as there aren't any others around , if I followed the practice of using no dlc/ payware items in this route, I'd either not be able to make it, find someone to make new ones, or would have had to completely change the nature of the area.

There are occasions where one has to use payware if a prototypical route is being created, that's not the only example I've had to use in this route, if it means others aren't going to download it due to that factor, well, that's their decision.

Despite having to use payware on occasions , a few of us are trying to increase the amount of south Australian content ,which is a definite obstacle to any more routes being created , thanks to a few generous souls who have allowed modifications to existing assets , as well as Deane making new content , by the time Nick and I have completed our routes there should be a fair few more SA styled buildings and rolling stock on the DLS, which can only be a good thing .

Thanks to El Stoko, who has allowed ( and made ) some modifications to his series of NSW country residences, I'm currently making a number of stone and brick buildings from these that will be more like the older houses we get in SA ,as we don't have many older houses made of fibro or boards in the city . These are created using wall textures and doors and window frames from local houses near the route. SA is one of those

states where not a lot of the older buildings were repeated in housing estates, just walking around Brighton today I saw about 30 different house designs within 6 streets. There will be about a dozen of these old villas eventually, although I could really do with a typical SA California bungalow design, have yet to find one on the DLS there are a few that look a bit like ours, but they still differ in design.

That looks fantastic, definitely filling a gap of missing content for South Australian routes with these! Keep up the good work (y)

BTW the houses will be released by El Stoko under his kuid ID number . i will possibly put up another WIP version the route, but it wont be 100% as Deane hasn't released his buildings and platforms yet as he wants to do more work on them before they go on the DLS .....hes busy with another project at the moment.

Dunno if this will work from here, but this is a complete run through of the willunga route as it is at present , lots of warts, about 25 mins long
it wont work , probably[as its on facebook, will post it online elsewhere

Link to run through for the WIP of the Willunga railway, forgot to turn junction overlays off and missed blowing the horn on one or two crossings, anyway, it is what it is. I am currently uploading it again to see if I can get better quality, but unfortunately it still looks very fuzzy, despite it being a 5 gb upload. need to work out how I can attain HD quality as this looks awful, probably have to pay Youtube to attain better quality.

I've uploaded 22 variations of George fishers 'Sears" bungalows, with tin /tile roofs and various brick, stone, block sides to resemble post war houses build in south Australia, they look ok, apart from some of the roofing due to the restrictions of the software that was around when they were first created. Furthermore and to a far higher standard, Deane has uploaded most of the Willunga railway content he has so kindly made for me . The routes stations would have been pretty daggy without these models as they are not really like any other buildings in other states.
i will brush up the route and upload another WIP version in a week or two .

Good Morning Sir Dan,

Thankyou for the update, these will be much needed Addons for Australia Routes. Cheers Mate 😎

A lot of these are packaged on my system, but I think I got them originally from the DLS.
I have quite a few as well from 02A-L to 29B-L, most are by flanders and a few have been modded by RoysTrainz to add a Seasonal layer (presumably snow - which would not go down well in the Aussie Outback). All are "Packaged" and came with the "Milton Valley Railroad". Only a few, now obsoleted versions, are listed as "Available for download" from the DLS.

If a seasonal asset has been configured in the right way, snow will not appear inappropriately in an Australian outback layout, or any other layout.
I just checked and they are correctly configured. I am always a bit reluctant to choose a "seasonal" asset after experiencing an incorrectly configured ground texture that resulted in snow appearing in my Aussie Outback route on June 1st. At least the asset creator got the season, winter, correct but had overridden the altitude setting so that snow would automatically appear at 0 metres.

I recently noticed that the West from Denver DLC route has the same issue - snow is set to appear in the correct season but at any altitude from 0 m and above.

If it's the same Roy I'm thinking of, yes, he did some Speedtrees that had snow as the 'winter' texture, which is the wrong way to configure them.

Unless things have changed, I think snowline altitude is an Environment setting, adjusted from within the Session (or is it the Route? I get confused between the two). I don't think it's a property of a ground texture, scenery object or spline.

Its in both, which can make it even more confusing.

The general rule is:-
  • Change an environment setting and change a route object to save the new setting in the route
  • Change an environment setting and change a session object (or setting) to save the new setting in the session
  • Environment settings in a session have priority over environment settings in a route.
In the case of West from Denver the summer Snow Altitude Environment is set to 4000m, well above the maximum height allowed, while in the Winter sessions it is set to 0m.

Willunga Station Assets.
Dean's assets posted on 17 August do not appear on my Content Manager downloads list. The mesh files do, but not the assets.
The assets do appear on the website Download Station.
There was an issue a couple of weeks ago where some Victorian fence assets had a fault and did not appear.
Is this a similar issue?

Just love all the Willunga shots.
Cheers
Nick
