"sound horn" trigger quesiton

Hey guys,

I'm curious, does the Sound Horn trigger (the black one) play the "horn" track in a loco's horn file, or does it do something else? My thought is, if you recorded a crossing sequence (- - 0 -) as the "horn.wav" track, would you be able to have a reasonably prototypical crossing sequence by placing just one of these at the appropriate spot approaching a crossing, instead of a bazillion before each crossing?

Thanks,

DJ

Hmmmm, it runs in my mind.....(lets see if I can catch it!)
That the first time I saw that trigger used, the engine did do a complete crossing blow. NOW, my problem is which route and engine !
Actually what is really needed are two horn.wav files for each engine. One for a single blast and the other for a crossing.

DaveL......ideas only......not smart enough to implement them :)

I believe which version you are using compounds this as TS12 horn sounds can be three part, whereas 2010 and lower use two part. I however have not been able to figure out how they are two part. I have extensive experience in audio editing and could not reach a definitive result. I was trying to add some environmental ambience to the end of the horn sound file but it would not work with 2010, I think just having the --0- sequence as the horn sound would be more realistic....for A.I. triggered locos. You could clone it and have two versions, one with the sequence with added ambience (reverb and delay) and one with just a single normal blast if you were driving.
