Someone who could build a simple asset for me?

Hi there,
Been trying to build a vehicle asset for trainz with Blender etc, but I can't get it. Someone experienced could probably put it together in a flash, so I was hoping to find someone who might help. I have the images of the sides and ends of the vehicle ready sized as png files. Perhaps I could tempt someone?

Sorry, but I tried this using imgbb and the direct link, but still getting "Image cannot be downloaded from passed link"

Be sure you post the image link using the icon that looks like a picture (Insert image). It puts it in the correct format for the image to show.

Great got it... a new learning curve. Bit I missed, was the separate tab.

2 x general images and 4 x png reasonably size proportioned . I could not find a roof image with the small orange skylight.

It would be great if you could do something. I drove one for a year when I was 19!

Thanks so much for your help and advice.

Does it have to be this one exactly? Mr. Whippy used Bedford chassis and Mercedes chassis and I suspect somewhere on the DLS will be a basic van that could be reskinned. The curves make it definitely not simple. The two cones could just be an attachment if the blender source isn't available.

@jules22 - In short it's absolutely not a simple model to scratch model, without accurate plan prints (to scale) to work from, and modeling a van with these complex compound curves is definitely a major project.
Not something I would take on, way beyond my modeling ability.

Without knowing what brand/model that van is, we don't really have a starting point for a pre-made free/paid model mesh. We're also talking about finding a finished model mesh to start with, as well as full on left/right side, back and front views, shot perfectly in tangent to pull the logos and advertising art from. If that's not happening, then re-creating them from scratch will be a hit and miss affair depending on the person art talent in GIMP or Photoshop. May have to dish out some cash for fonts as well, if a close enough match can't be found on the internet.

EDIT: I found some other Mr Whippy pics, and determined that the van is a Morris Minor, but no idea what model it is. The only MM van mesh I could find is on 3dmodels.org, is way over detailed for a scenery asset, for Trainz, and costs 95 USD.

There is one van on Sketchfab that is a close match, but is textured in a old, beat-up rusty exterior. It's 15 bucks. https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/ice...-cream-truck-6f58a8a3d50147b29bb3f058e02b713d
Again, the van would need to be retextured, and would need the straight on elevation shots to be able to make the texture map.

There is a possibility, if you don't care about the van brand, > One of the many Berliet or Fourgon French vans on the DLS (same era, similar design) could be reskinned.

Hi Rico,

Well its definitely a Commer Karrier and that, as it was the one what I drove in 1970, would be the only model I would really be interested in.

You mentioned that complex curves would be an issue and the one you found for 15 is rather "cartoony" and is a long way from the original. On the other hand the Vintage Ice Cream Van. model seems very accurate apart from the colour scheme, and if it saves a lot of work starting from scratch, and it is possible to use it and it can be "reskinned", I guess it would be worth spending a few dollars for it.

Once again my knowledge lets me down. Can a 3D model such as this be disassembled and the parts retextured in Photoshop, and then put back together again as I could probably do the photoshop part myself?

I didn't realise how complicated this would be and really appreciate your contribution and others interest on this.

The license is very restrictive. You couldn't upload it or share it with anyone. You need to pay an additional $35 for the license to cover you bringing it into you own copy of Trainz and on request from 3Daz you must remove it.

Realistically the amount of work needed to bring it into something that will export .fbx or im for trainz will be more than starting from scratch. Also it looks as if it will be extremely poly heavy which suggests you'll need a high end machine if it isn't going to freeze your machine.

I'd approach it from a drawing for a Commer Karrier and from there make a generic van. After that modify and skin it to be a Mr. Whippy van. Some of the French content creators are into vans they may have something to start from.

Looks like this is incredibly more complicated than I ever imagined and my memories as a "cool" nineteen year old and will have to remain "Trainzless". Thanks to Rico et all for your advice and knowledge.
