It is quite likely that my discovery may not be new, but it is new to me.

When replying to a thread, if you use Advanced instead of Quick, page down and you will find all the previous posts in condensed format and reversed with the latest messages at the top, including ones that may have arrived while you are typing.

If you all knew that, I don't care, it is new to me and very useful.
