Shunting train & Signal issues on terminus map...

Im creating a route heavily inspired by paddington station. Im having an issue, I need a shunter to collect a set of carriages, however in between it is a signal so it wont cross to the carriages to pull them out of the station...

..Any one have any ideas?

Place either a miniature or an invisible signal about 2 to 3 mtrs in front of the carriages.
That will cause your main signal to show caution. the loco should then pass the main signal and stop just before the carriages for a few seconds then couple.

Hi Dan_Hat

There are two driver commands on the DLS by elstoko, "Set Signal Ahead" and "Set Selected Signal State v4" which allow you to force a signal to a particular state. "Set Signal Ahead" will allow you to set the next signal ahead while "Set Selected Signal State" needs the signal to be named and is used where the signal to be controlled isn't the next one in front of the loco.

If used with the basic Auran UK signals with calling on lights fitted below the main head, the main light will stay red but the calling on lights will illuminate until the loco has passed the signal.

These two driver commands are perfect for your situation as I use them to allow locos to back down onto trains at King's Cross on the ECML route.

An alternative to placing invisible signals as Bill69 mentioned, is to use outward facing signals, or those facing the switch instead of the buffer at the end of the track. Keep in mind that the buffers are actually considered signals unless they are only configured as scenery objects, then you'll need to the invisible signal method.

With the outward facing signals, I've been able to order AI drivers to couple on to all kinds of wagons and shunt them between various tracks without any problem.

Thank you, Im currently using LMS semaphore signals, and the invisible signal way seems not to have worked :(

Some of the LMS signals on the DLS do not have scripts or do not have modern scripts, see if you can replace them with more up to date equivalents.

An LMS terminus based on Paddington ???????? Hmmmmmmmmm. :)
