Cox Green village is idyllically situated but until 1982 was in the shadow of Newalls Insulation Factory which spewed pollution into the river and air. Seen here with an NCB train crossing the Victoria Bridge in the distance , the ferry on the right was replaced by the footbridge in 1958.
