Show off your reskins!

That's the first time I've seen an Aussie loco repainted into a US livery :)

For those who are curious, it's a Victorian Railways T class (series 4 or 5) locomotive. Some prototype info can be found here and here

They have their heritage in the EMD 'G8'/'G12' export models, however the VR were the only ones to actually have these versions. There are 5 distinct variations as well, with these 'low nose' T's being the last designs (along with a heavier version for hump shunting).

Are you sure? cause I'm pretty sure that it's just a Genset (Green Goat [ian's making one as well as RZ])
The model itself is not something Aussie it's on the TCR site as a New Jersey Transit Switcher (essentially a Genset) (one that for the love of me I have been unable to get to work in TS2010 so cudos to rwk on that) The two are indeed similar in appearance but I believe that they are completely different Zec.
That's just my two cents if someone who has more knowledge on the loco's comes along to correct me go right ahead and I will take no offense

Hi Alex
It wasn't a dig, by no means :)

It's definitely a reskin of a T class, Williamg's by the looks of it: http://images.auran.com/auran.com/trainz/downloads/rollingstock/kuid_51275_700009.jpg

The sand boxes on the bogies are a good give-away of this as well, as they are technically series 1 T class bogies (this was something 'unique' to the early locos, such as the G8's and G12's with 4 wheel bogies, the Genset/Green Goat units don't use this). The Series 4 had the sand boxes behind the valance (and under the footplate). The recess in the 'pilot' is also fairly 'unique' to VR/Aus locomotives (I've not seen a US hood unit with these style pilots before) :)

Having also built a Series 4 T class, I got to know the design of the things quite well (also got 4 HO scale ones here, 3 'RTR' and one kit). :)

As I said, I actually found the idea of a US reskin of an Aussie loco rather neat :) There's been a few the other way (I've done a couple myself), but not really seen any Aus->US reskins :)

I hope this counts as a reskin!

Zec,
This is the one that he did it off of http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae351/njtacl/ScreenShot018.jpg
it can be found here http://www.trainzcommuterrail.co.cc/pages/dl_loco/ under New Jersey Trainsit (yes the spelling is off on the DL) MP20GPI Pack.
I assume that this was the loco he (Josef [the repainter/Creator[unsure at this point{trying to dig through release announcements}]) was basing his model off of. http://www.trainweb.org/greengoats/features/mp20b-3_NJT1002a.jpg
As far as the bogies go It's pretty easy to swap out bogeys as I've often swapped out the bogey's on the F40's for the P32acdm's electric pickup bogeys.

Yeah, swapping bogies can be easy. Although, not all bogies will go under everything :)

But it's definitely a VR T class (well, actually, GN or FA T class, as those are the only liveries Williamg released IIRC) model. The Genset/GreenGoat is a very different beast, when compared to a T class :)

This one should highlight the difference :) http://www.zecrail.com/files/temp/S301_20120413_0003.jpg Also highlights the loading gauge differences between US and Aus locos quite well. US locos must really look massive in real life! :)

Of note, as well, is that the GN T class shows the same issue with the height off the rails that the screenshot from Rwk shows (something that could, maybe, be fixed using the 'position' tag in the mesh-table, would need some tweaking to get it right though).

I'm not saying anyone's done anything wrong, nor am I having a go at the reskins. Just thought it interesting to see, plus thought there might be some interest in the 'heritage' of the prototype :)

I stand corrected, and so now I will shut up :)
odd though that there was not tag on the TCR page stating that the loco's were reskinned though :/

I Just need to figure out how to change the running numbers color's and these will be real beauties....

enzo i cant wait to see what you do with the BVR. for people that dont live in idaho, Boise Valley Railroad has one painted in BSU colors with speed horses. of coarse its only a though if you arnt a vandal fan. -inprr

I saw the differences between the three locos. I now decided to reskin the Green Goat into SEPTA. I used the Railpower model. The SEPTA genset has yellow handrails on the sides, the NJT Trainz model does not. One thing, though is that the Green Goat's cab seems too high compared to the real SEPTA genset and the VR/NJT switcher Trainz models. The SEPTA's cab looks more like the one on the VR/NJT switcher with the slanted roof sides.
